Released back in June 2012, Lollipop Chainsaw was a hack-and-slash game developed by Goichi Suda's Grasshopper Manufacture. Along with Suda, Lollipop Chainsaw was co-written by now-famous Hollywood writer and director James Gunn, with some of the game's aesthetic and mechanics even influencing his version of Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad. As for the game itself, Lollipop Chainsaw was met with middling reviews on launch, though it's garnered something of a cult following in recent years due to its unique premise. And now, the 2012 cult classic is getting a remaster.
Titled Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, this remaster is being developed by Dragami Games, and reportedly features no involvement from Goichi Suda or James Gunn. That said, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP still looks like a solid remaster, coming with plenty of new and tweaked features that should keep fans busy when the game launches on September 12.

Based on the list of features Dragami is changing or tweaking from the game's original iteration, it's clear that the developer wants Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP to be as user-friendly and accessible as possible. Improved camera and button input responses will make Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's moment-to-moment gameplay feel more fluid, while setting Quick-Time Events to automatic by default will undoubtedly help the game to feel a bit more modern.
It's also great to see Dragami tweak the balancing of the Zombie Baseball minigame, an infamously difficult element in its original iteration. The extra quality-of-life tweaks such as increasing the ammo for the Chainsaw Blaster and improving the Nick Roulette abilities are also sure to be subtle but worthwhile changes that long-time fans of the game will notice.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will retail for $44.99, which might be considered a bit steep for a remaster.

While quality-of-life changes are great to see, it's Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's new features that are going to draw fans back in. As should be expected from any remaster, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will feature updated visuals and resolutions on all platforms, along with higher frame rates on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
Two new modes are coming with Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. The first of these is the titular RePOP Mode, which adds a colorful new pop art-inspired look to the game, specifically affecting the game's damage effects. The second mode is Real Time Attack, which challenges players to beat the game's six stages as fast as possible. Their time will then be recorded on a world leaderboard.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will also come with a slew of new collectibles. These include four additional chainsaws, each of which applies a special trait to protagonist Juliet, such as increasing Gold Medal availability, or forcing zombies to target the player and not survivors. Some new costumes and hair colors will be added with the remaster. The original Lollipop Chainsaw's licensed soundtrack will be replaced in the remaster by an all-new soundtrack filled with original songs.
