According to Dragami Games, several Lollipop Chainsaw projects are in development as the company partners with Taiwanese investment firm Nada Holdings. Despite its 2012 release, Lollipop Chainsaw has continued to generate revenue for the IP holders, selling over 1.5 million copies as of 2025.
Back in 2024, Dragami Games released a remastered version of the game titled Lollipop Chainsaw rePOP, which received a positive reception. It introduced the IP to current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, while also giving Nintendo Switch and PC players a chance to experience the beloved zombie hack-and-slash with higher resolution and modernized mechanics.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Free Update Adds Requested Mode
A new update is here for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, adding a highly requested mode to the candy-coated hack-and-slash action-adventure game.
Now, it appears that multiple Lollipop Chainsaw projects are underway as the Japanese owner of the game teams up with a Taiwanese investor. Dragami Games' new partner, Nada Holdings, has experience working with well-known game developers like SEGA and DeNA. However, the company primarily specializes in anime and manga investments, sparking speculation about a possible Lollipop Chainsaw anime. Another possibility is that the partnership could pave the way for a long-awaited sequel.
Lollipop Chainsaw Could Get a Sequel or Anime Adaptation Soon
In Dragami Games' official announcement, the partnership with Nada Holdings is described as a multi-layered contract aimed at expanding the Lollipop Chainsaw IP. "We intend to work together with Dragami Games to create various new projects together," wrote Nada Holdings chairman Joe Teng. And with one side of the deal being an investor in anime and video games, both a sequel to the original Lollipop Chainsaw and an anime or manga adaptation may be in development.
At this point, and given Lollipop Chainsaw rePOP' s success, a sequel seems inevitable. An anime or manga adaptation would also align well with the new contract's goal of "expanding" the 13-year-old IP. However, these are still just speculations, as both parties have yet to share any concrete details about their plans for the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise.
So far, fans have reacted positively to the news of the partnership, with many expressing excitement over the possibility of a sequel to the classic hack-and-slash hit. One of the questions that remains, however, is who will develop the next game, if one is indeed in the works. The remaster's developer, Grasshopper Manufacture, appears to be focused on its own new IP, Romeo Is a Dead Man, which could suggest that a different team will take over the franchise. For now, though, fans will have to wait to see if either party shares more details about the projects currently in development.
