Showcased at today's Wholesome Snack livestream, Little Kitty, Big City has players assume the role of a cat who's lost in an urban city. The goal is to get back home, however, the cat is too curious and arguably gets even more lost on its way. From Double Dagger Studio, the first teaser trailer shown as Wholesome Games' showcase might remind players of the chaos found in Untitled Goose Game and the many shenanigans that ensued.

Untitled Goose Game was an indie puzzle game that released back in 2018 to astounding reception. Controlling a goose, players were tasked with a ridiculous to-do list in each area, such as having a picnic or getting a rake in the lake. But by being able to grab everyday objects like glass bottles and harmonicas, and combining the puzzles with just a little bit of stealth, it was more chaotic fun than anything else, and fans of Untitled Goose Game should look forward to Little Kitty, Big City.

What is Little Kitty, Big City?

While the premise of the game seems pretty simple—a domestic cat finding its way back home—most of the gameplay shown at the indie Wholesome Games event seemed to encompass all but that. The little kitty can get into all sorts of trouble, such as climbing into places that it shouldn't be like boxes and holes in walls. Unfortunately, not much else has been revealed about the game so far, but some screenshots have been shown of the cat possibly stealing some items like a fish, waffle, and even a boxcutter. So shenanigans are to be expected in Little Kitty, Big City.

Additionally, Little Kitty, Big City will allow the cat to speak to other animals, such as mischievous birds and silly dogs. It's not quite clear how quests will work in this upcoming indie game—perhaps they'll be a list of goofy tasks like in Untitled Goose Game but maybe the game will progress as the cat meets new friends in its journey around the city. The kitty can also wear funny hats, which is always a plus.

Why Little Kitty, Big City Should Excite Untitled Goose Game Fans

The sheer chaos of Untitled Goose Game is what led it to such popularity, along with just generally being a great game with complicated puzzles and an interesting world, and it looks like Little Kitty, Big City will be a lot of the same. It's currently unknown if there will be puzzles of any kind, though there might be some form of problem-solving, but the indie game will still take what folks love about Goose Game with a somewhat sandbox-style element to it and plenty of antics.

Unfortunately, Little Kitty, Big City doesn't have a release date or even a release window as of yet, with the Steam page simply stating "cats don't have deadlines," which means players shouldn't expect it anytime soon. However, if games like Untitled Goose Game and Goat Simulator proved anything, it's that there's certainly a market for havoc-driven animal simulators in the gaming industry.

Little Kitty, Big City is currently in development for PC.
