The free-to-play, turn-based gacha RPG Limbus Company comes from developers Project Moon, best known for their previous titles Library of Ruina and Lobotomy Corporation. The game builds on the SCP-adjacent lore and anime art style established in Project Moon's prior IP. Also, like their previous games, Limbus Company uses a compex system of damage types, elements, and concepts, that can be difficult to approach for new players.
A little bit of digging into the complex naming of Limbus Company's systems, and turn-based strategy and RPG fans will start to find a lot of familiar effects like damage over time, area damage, and so on. Players then just need to get used to the game's more unique systems, like Clashes and E.G.O. Moves, to get to grips with how to build a team of strong IDs that complement each other.
The Best Turn Based Tactics Games For Beginners
A lot of turn-based tactics games have quite the steep learning curve, so here are a few that are great for those unfamiliar with the genre.
Bleed has been one of the strongest damage effects to build a team around for a while in Limbus Company, and recently added IDs like Don Quixote have only served to elevate its potential for both general fights and taking on abnormalities. For players who want to build a team of bleed-based IDs for taking on the higher Cantos, these are the best bleed team comps in Limbus Company.
Best Bleed Team For Mirror Dungeons
Mixed Comp For Specific Runs
Team/Slots:
- Slot 1: Manager Don Quixote
- Slot 2: Pointilist Ring Yi Sang
- Slot 3: Princess Rodion
- Slot 4: Red Eyes & Penitence Ryoshu
- Slot 5: R. Corp 4th Pack Rhino Meursault
- Slot 6: Priest Gregor
Support:
- R.Corp 4th Pack Rabbit Heathcliff
- Kurokumo Clan Wakashu Hong Lu
- The One Who Grips Faust
The bleed team compositions here are all variants of the same core members. This version of the team is more niche, as it's designed for taking on mirror dungeons, where players can make more liberal use of their E.G.O. Moves, as well as the core four members of Don Quixote, Yi Sang, Rodion, and Gregor. This team includes Red Eyes & Penitence Ryoshu and R.Corp Meursault, as this will give players access to the strongest set of E.G.O. Skills with their bleed setup.
Most Complex Turn-Based Indie Games
There's a lot that players can sink their teeth into in these turn-based indie games, thanks to their complex gameplay mechanics.
The four core members of the team provide damage to multiple targets consistently, as well as single-target damage when needed, and can ramp in power throughout a fight thanks to the Bloodfeast mechanic. The E.G.O. Gifts that players get in the mirror dungeon will allow for more uses of powerful E.G.O.s like Yearning Mircalla for both Don Quixote and Meursault. That's why this version of the team leans towards IDs that have access to the best E.G.O.s, as opposed to the most powerful raw damage or more bleed count, as with the two more generally useful versions of this team.
Best Bleed Team Vs Bosses
Single Target Focused Team
Team/Slots:
- Slot 1: Manager Don Quixote
- Slot 2: Pointilist Ring Yi Sang
- Slot 3: Princess Rodion
- Slot 4: R. Corp 4th Pack Rhino Meursault
- Slot 5: Pointilist Ring Outis
- Slot 6: Priest Gregor
Supports:
- The One Who Grips Faust
- Kurokumo Clan Wakashu Ryoshu
- Kurokumo Clan Wakashu Hong Lu
This bleed team uses the same core four members as the best overall team, but swaps out slots 4 and 5 with two IDs that can help with single-target damage. That means that the core damage of this version of the team comes from Ring Yi Sang thanks to synergies from Ring Outis, and Manager Don is less important than in other variants of the team.
The key difference between fights versus bosses, or abnormalities, and fights versus human enemies is that bosses will flip a lot of coins per turn in comparison. That's important for a bleed team, as it means that bleed count becomes much more relevant to damage output. That's the core idea behind this team, with Meursault's skill two able to add 4 counts of bleed at a time, extra bleed count from Ring Outis, and even the support characters Ryoshu and Hong Lu setup to add additional bleed stacks with their passive effects.
Great Turn-Based Games That Deserve Sequels
These turn-based games brought something so special to the table, that they deserve to be considered as candidates for a sequel.
Don Quixote is in slot 1 as a good bleed all-rounder, and will still benefit from Bloodfeast against bosses. They just lose some effectiveness as their second skill is not as useful for single-target killing. Rin Yi Sang is much more important to this team, able to deal very high single-target damage, especially with the added bleed count. Princess Rodion is very useful in slot 3 for her damage buffs, as is Priest Gregor in slot 6 for his Bloodfeast synergy and survivability. The high bleed count and single target damage potential are the key to taking down bosses quickly in Limbus Company's turn-based battles.
Best Bleed Team Vs Humans
Best General-Use Bleed Team
Team/Slots:
- Slot 1: Manager Don Quixote
- Slot 2: Pointilist Ring Yi Sang
- Slot 3: Princess Rodion
- Slot 4: Red Eyes & Penitence Ryoshu
- Slot 5: Ting Tang Gangleader Hong Lu
- Slot 6: Priest Gregor
Supports:
- The One Who Grips Faust
- The Middle Little Brother Meursault
- R. Corp 4th Pack Rabbit Heathcliff
While the toughest encounters in Limbus Company may come from fighting abnormalities, the vast majority of fights in the game will be against human enemies. This version of the bleed team is the best overall for that reason, as it can provide enough multi-target damage, along with all the bleed count and potency that players will need to take down these foes with ease.
The first slot is taken by Manager Don Quixote, the newest bleed ID and the new best slot 1 ID for a bleed team. This is due to their consistent ability to hit up to three targets with their skill two, along with high base damage that makes them great at clashes, and the ability to stack Bloodfeast to deal even more damage. Ring Yi Sang was previously the best ID for bleed teams, and is still one of the best bleed-based IDs. Yi Sang's strengths lie in stacking bleed count and high single-target damage, and scaling damage as multiple effects are stacked on a target. They only take slot 2 because Manager Don works so well in slot 1.
Princess Rodion takes slot 3 as she will also benefit from Bloodfeast, and can provide solid buffs to the rest of the team. Red Eyes & Penitence Ryoshu takes slot 4 to provide bleed magnitude and a source of blunt damage. Hong Lu might be a confusing choice for slot 5 as his synergies aren't obvious, but he can chain resonance with his lust/pierce skill two, and build gluttony. Apart from that, his base damage values are strong enough to overpower most clashes in human fights, which is more valuable than extra bleed stacks with this team. Priest Gregor goes in slot 6 as an excellent source of Bloodfeast for the rest of the team. He's also useful for tanking damage for the rest of the team, and is highly survivable in this composition.
Support IDs can be varied, but some of the best to use here are Faust for SP generation, Meursault for even more SP, and Heathcliff for some extra pierce damage. This team will easily clear fights against human enemies even at Canto VII.
