In Like A Dragon: Ishin, Sakamoto Ryouma has access to four different combat styles, each allowing him to perform different moves and take advantage of different sets of skills. With each combat style benefiting different combat situations, it's always valuable to have points put into each style.

Like A Dragon: Ishin allows players to access many skills in each style from the start, as long as they have enough orbs to purchase them. Some particularly powerful and useful skills require an extra step, however, requiring players to find a trainer and complete tasks before they can be unlocked. In this guide, players will find the locations of the trainers for each of the four styles.

Brawler

Like A Dragon Ishin Brawler

The Brawler Style is a hand-to-hand style that makes use of parries, counterattacks, and a variety of moves reminiscent of Kiryu's signature Dragon Style from the main Yakuza/Like A Dragon titles and the Brawler Style seen in Yakuza 0. Like those games, the secret to learning new Brawler techniques lies with Komaki.

Komaki's Dojo can be found just to the right of Teradaya on the map and can be accessed as early as chapter 2. To learn new skills, players will need to take on Komaki's challenges, which will remove the seals in the skill tree and allow players to learn previously locked techniques like Komaki Tumbler and the ever-useful Komaki Cat-Like Reflexes.

Swordsman

Like A Dragon Ishin Sword-1

The Swordsman Style is a well-balanced sword-fighting style that can dish out excellent damage while also allowing players to effectively block attacks from any kind of weapon. This makes it excellent when facing bosses or taking on enemy gunners, and several of its moves can hit multiple targets effectively too.

Players seeking to enhance their Swordsman Style must travel to the Ginryu Dojo, which is found on the upper west side of Rakugai. First accessible in chapter 3, players walking along the road outside the Dojo will encounter some Ronin, who try to start a fight before being driven off by the Dojo's Master: Ginryu. After this, he'll invite Ryouma to the Dojo, and training will become available for both Swordsman and Wild Dancer style.

In exchange for his training, Ginryu requires players to show him swords of increasing grade, from dull to best. Swords of a higher grade than the one he asks for at each stage will not work, so players will need one sword of each grade to access all of his training.

Gunman

Ishin Gunman Skills- Acid-Poison Rounds

The Gunman Style is a helpful long-range style that allows Ryouma to make use of his equipped pistol along with special ammo to inflict status effects and deal high damage, though it lacks reliable defensive techniques other than dodging. With good use of cover and positioning, players are able to use this style to eliminate entire groups from a distance.

Players are trained in the Gunman style by William, a foreign gun dealer who can be met by heading to East Umekojicho and searching the southwest part of the area for a trio of suspicious people looking at the ground. Interacting with them results in William arriving and players being guided to his hideout.

This allows players to receive his training and gain access to his side story. Notably, this includes unlocking the skills that let players craft their own special ammunition, allowing players to take advantage of a range of highly effective status effects.

Wild Dancer

Like A Dragon Ishin Sword And Gun

The Wild Dancer style is a very effective offensive style that allows players to wield both sword and gun in tandem, dealing damage to large groups of enemies at once. Despite the incredible offensive power this style offers, it reduces the player's ability to defend since they cannot block in this style (except by parrying, which requires good timing). The style's main means of defense is dodging, but it makes up for this with its aforementioned power when dealing with groups.

Like the Swordsman style, Wild Dancer training is provided by Ginryu at his Dojo. He only requires players to show him a sword of a certain grade once before offering access to training for both styles, allowing players to advance their knowledge of this style alongside Swordsman.
