The Wanted Men side quest in Like a Dragon: Ishin is one of the lengthiest in the game, but it's also rewarding and worthwhile. The challenging substory rewards Ryoma with a good amount of Ryo (money) and three powerful Trooper Cards, and a Spear.
The Wanted Men quest in Like a Dragon: Ishin sees Ryoma act as a bounty hunter hired to stop an outbreak of violence in the city. There are thefts, attacks, and murders committed by three groups behaving out of character. The groups are the Tengu, the Chivalrous Shinob i, and the Touken Clan.
Recommendations Before Starting Wanted Men
The Wanted Men substory is a long and challenging quest, and even though it starts with some attainable bounties, it ends with one of the most difficult final bosses in the game. Use the following recommendations:
- The recommended Level is 40 if players plan on tackling the quest from start to finish.
- Use the Shrine to exchange virtue currency for the Enhanced Sprinting Levels. There are five to unlock. This will aid Ryoma in the chase missions.
- Assign Ryoma's best Trooper Cards in Like a Dragon: Ishin.
- Use the boatman to leave Mukurogai and return to Tachibanagumi Headquarters to trigger new wanted posters.
Starting The Wanted Men Quest
The Wanted Men side quest is found on the first floor of Mukurogai at the Tachibanagumi Headquarters from Chapter 3 after speaking to a mysterious woman and defeating a group of bandits in masks. Mukurogi can be accessed by boat in Fushima for a price of 500 mon or through the front gate from Sannocho - the man standing guard requires a one-off payment of sake. The boat option is usually the most convenient way to navigate these bounties, and Ryoma will make so much cash from the hunts that the payouts for the boat trips are more than affordable.
In Mukurogai, head up the stairs, follow the path, and enter the first building on Ryoma's left to begin Wanted Men in the HQ. Inside the building, speak to the lady behind the counter named Omatsu to begin The Wanted Men quest. The hunts usually consist of completing two to three tasks in one go before the next round of bounties become available.
Man In Tengu Mask
Inside the HQ, check the wall for the first wanted poster named Man in Tengu Mask. The objective is to defeat eight men in Tengu Masks, causing trouble outside a restaurant. The first location Ryoma needs to go to is the Shady Bar in Umekojicho, Rakugai.
Walk north and speak to the group of men in Tengu Masks, a fight break out, and Ryoma must defeat them to fulfill the first bounty.
After defeating the Tengu return to HQ and check the wall to get another request. If Ryoma has to wait, use the boatman in Mukurogai and use him again to travel back to unlock the next set of wanted posters.
Jozo Tengu: Jozo
The next wanted poster will reveal that Jozo of the Tengu is looking for Ryoma around Mukurogai. Go back downstairs and to the front gate. Talk to the injured man complaining about the Tengu, and he'll explain that one of them is waiting outside the gate.
Approach the Masked Man
Ryoma must go to the location marked on the above map in East Umekojicho, Rakugai, and speak to a man in a mask to proceed.
Fight Tengu Jozo And His Men
The masked will take Ryoma to his boss Jozo from the wanted poster, and a fight will commence.
They will try and surround Ryoma, so it's beneficial to implement the Wild Dancer style and use Trooper Cards with a large area of attack moves - the Kenny Omega card is perfect for these fights. Ryomo should also focus on beating Jozo's men first, then fight Jozo one-on-one. After the battle, a cutscene will show the Tengu swearing revenge before being approached by a mysterious unknown man with a proposition.
Mysterious Ninja & The Street Killer
Back at the HQ, there are two requests for a Mysterious Ninja and the Street Killer. Ryoma should complete one after the other.
Mysterious Ninja
The Mysterious Ninja is robbing people in South Fushimi, Ichibangai. It's up to Ryoma to catch them and stop them.
Use the map above and locate a woman standing near a wheel mil l to begin the chasing mission. Ryoma should increase his Enchanted Sprinting at Shrines before chasing ninjas through the streets. If the Shinobi are out of sight, use the minimap to locate them by their red arrow markers.
After catching the Ninja, Ryoma will learn that the Clan is known as the Chivalrous Shinobi, and they usually help poorer people instead of stealing from them.
The Street Killer
After the White Ninja has been dealt with, it's time to find the Street Killer from the wanted posters. The killer is in Kuramachi behind the Teradaya Inn at Ryoma's location on the map below.
Ryoma will suddenly get attacked by the killer walking along the street. A time-limited event will occur, so prepare for the randomized button prompt, and Ryoma will defend himself. He's aggressive, so use side steps and counterattacks to defeat him.
After the fight, the man acts like he's under the influence of something. Ryoma will automatically return to HQ with the man to collect the reward for both bounties.
The Blue Ninja & The Street Killers
After leaving Mukurogai and returning to the HQ, two new wanted posters await Ryoma. The first requires Ryoma to catch ten Blue Shinobi stealing in North Fushimi Ichibangai. The second is the Street Killer found in North Umekojicho, Rakugai. The killer belongs to a group of sword fanatics called the Toukan Clan.
The Blue Ninja
The gang of Blue Shinobi can be found in North Fushimi, Ichibangai. Approach the woman standing on her own to initiate the chase.
There are ten blue ninjas to catch, and once again, keep an eye on the minimap radar to find their location.
The Street Killers
After catching the Blue Ninja, it's time to locate the Street Killers North Umekojicho, Rakugai. They can be found in the location on the map below.
This time, Ryoma will be attacked by two men. The first will trigger a quick time event, so press the randomized button prompt to protect Ryoma from the attack. The second attacker will hang back for a while, so deal with the first using side steps and counterattacks. If Ryoma is fighting both, use the Wild Dancer style to stay on the move. After the fight, Ryoma automatically spawns at the HQ and gets Ryo as a reward for both bounties.
The Escort Mission
The escort mission asks Ryoma to escort Omatsu's friend to his desired location. He is located on the other side of the Mukurogai gate waiting.
Take a right and follow the path to Shikokuya. It's a short walk, but Ryoma will get attacked by some men. Deal with the men using the Wild Dancer style and use the Trooper Cards to take down multiple enemies. After the fight, Omatsu's friend will leave impressed with Ryoma's skill but strangely amused with the incident. Ryoma will reappear at the HQ for his reward but leave Mukurogai and return to trigger the next event.
Toukan Clan Hideout
There is another wanted poster at the HQ, and it tasks Ryoma with finding the Toukan Clan hideout and defeating their leader Yukimitsu. Thankfully, there's no searching this time, as Omatsu will get Ryoma there by palanquin. After a brief conversation, Ryoma will fight five men at the hideout. Use a combination of Wild Dancer with Trooper Cards in Like a Dragon: Ishin to avoid their attacks.
After the fight, the clan leader will explain that they were under the influence of a strange man's incense which made them lose their minds. The same scent appears to be affecting the Tengu and the Shinobi. Ryoma will be rewarded with the Book of Revelations: Smash.
The Green Ninja & The Jozo Tengu Gang
At the HQ, there are two more posters for Ryoma. The first highlights three Green Ninjas robbing on the streets of Rakunai near Teramachi. In the second poster, Ryoma must defeat a gang of eight Tengu at Umekojicho.
The Green Ninja
The exact location of the Green Ninja is South Teramachi Street. However, Ryoma has to catch three Green Ninjas who disappear from the minimap's radar.
Speak to the woman standing near the wall to begin the chase mission. After catching the first Ninja, the others will disappear from the radar.
Ryoma should run up and down Shijo Street indicated on the above map, and they appear in view again. After catching the Ninja, they will explain that their leader isn't being rational and is trying to nurse his sister back to health using strange incense.
The Jozo Tengu Gang
The Jozo Tengu gang is found outside the Uji Tea Parlour on the western side of Rakugai, causing trouble there.
Approach the gang, and after a short conversation, Ryoma will have to fight and defeat them. Use Ryoma's Wild Dancer style and execute the Trooper Card special moves.
After the fight, the Tengu will explain that their boss Jozo hasn't been the same since he started messing around with a special incense from a mysterious man. This concludes the two requests, and now Ryoma must go to the HQ to get the reward and initiate the request to find the leader of the Shinobi.
Chivalrous Shinobi: Tojiro
The following request is for Ryoma to find and secure the Shinobi leader and his sister. Ryoma must first meet with a Green Ninja in North Yashikimachi in Fushimi.
Approach the Green Ninja, and he will agree to take Ryoma to see his boss Tojiro. At the hideout, Ryoma will need to fight him. The Ninja is fast, so use the Wild Dancer to match him, sidestep and shoot the gun to counter his attacks.
When the fight is over, Tojiro's sister helps him realize that the incense altered his mind. As an apology, Tojiro will reward Ryoma with the Tear of the Dragon.
After the scene, Ryoma will automatically reappear at the Tachibanagumi HQ. The mysterious stranger is behind all the attacks and has influenced their minds with a drug-like substance.
