The Like a Dragon series has always included plenty of side content for players to plow through, creating open worlds that are fun to explore with activities to keep everyone busy. Along the way, there will be many secrets that can be found as well, and that is no exception in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Even as Kiryu Kazuma goes about his business trying to set things right as Joryu, there will always be time to take in the sights and pursue other interests, like becoming the undisputed champion of the Coliseum on the floating boat that is The Castle. For players hoping to do just that and become the world's strongest by defeating the secret boss Amon in Like a Dragon Gaiden, this guide is the best starting point to begin that journey.

Like a Dragon Gaiden Has the Most Heartbreaking Ending in the Franchise

Kiryu has been through a lot across all the Yakuza games, but none have ever broken the man before Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Unlocking the Secret Boss Amon in Like a Dragon Gaiden

Before even catching the attention of the traditional secret boss Amon, players will have to climb the ranks of the Coliseum and face off against the Four Kings. This means successfully beating all Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum matches, and then defeating Dan Brody, Samejima, JUSTICE, and Ugajin.

Once that is done, a new Akame Network request will arrive in the form of Operation Family Welfare. Finish that, and it will unlock two more unique fights in the Coliseum. Beat those, and the new Substory, Path to the Strongest, will begin.

Speak to Tetsu Amon, the golden robot, at the Coliseum Reception to begin a team fight. This will likely be one of the more challenging bouts in the game, so make sure to fill the team with high-level Joryu Clan members and kit out Kiryu with upgraded abilities. The enemies are all powerful robots that can be a hassle to handle, so having a good balance between attackers, defenders, and healers will make the most sense in this battle of attrition.

It is recommended that players buy the Great Fortune Gold Undies from the VIP Boutique vendor for ¥50,000,000, as it provides resistance to all status effects. During the fight, focus on the weaker enemies to pick them off, and have everyone focused on Tetsu Amon to finish things off. Watch out for Ultimate Attacks, and counter them accordingly. Win the fight, and Gai Amon will finally challenge Kiryu.

How to Beat Gai Amon in Like a Dragon Gaiden

Before speaking to Gai Amon at the helipad, stock up on all the best recovery items. Since this is not a Coliseum fight, players can use all the items at their disposal to survive the tough battle ahead.

The most annoying thing about Gai Amon is that he uses all the same gadgets that Kiryu has, and at the beginning, it means that he can heal any damage taken by using the drones. Once things kick off, immediately activate Extreme Heat in the Agent style, then hold Triangle/Y to quickly summon an army of drones, which will go to work destroying Amon's drones. Fully upgrading the drone ability is also a good call.

Once he loses his healing, Amon becomes much more manageable as a combatant. Do not be too aggressive. Instead, focus on dodging his attacks and avoid getting caught by the Spider gadget, and only attack with counters. Use Extreme Heat if possible to deal heavy damage, and use all the items to recover Heat if need be.

Upon depleting his health bar significantly, Amon will then become empowered, at which point any attacks he lands will heal his health. This is the point where the fight must be finished quickly, so switch to Yakuza style and use Extreme Heat and Heat actions to beat him down quickly.

By defeating Gai Amon, players will get the World's Strongest trophy or achievement, as well as receive the War God Talisman, a gear item that constantly recovers Heat during combat.
