Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name offers a fresh approach to the Yakuza series' well-known substory content. Substories are optional side quests that can be pursued as the player explores the game's real-world inspired urban settings. Previously, most substories in Yakuza games were initiated by engaging with city NPCs or unlocked after meeting specific requirements.
Like a Dragon Gaiden instead integrates these substories into a new game progression system called the Akame Network. The Akame Network acts as a hub for managing the player's progress in both Stroll n’ Patrol city missions and special requests directly from Akame. Akame is a self-proclaimed "jack-of-all-trades" who maintains an information network fostered primarily through her relationships with the local homeless.
Akame Network missions are easily identifiable on the city map and minimap by a white exclamation mark. The missions typically require the player to perform tasks such as delivering requested items to NPCs, recovering lost property through the use of the Spider gadget, taking photos, or defeating groups of enemies.
Rewards for these missions generally include monetary compensation and grant points that increase the player’s Akame Network level. Advancing to higher levels enables players to access new missions and use a special currency to unlock bonuses and buy exclusive items at Akame's Hideout.
Where to Start the Challenge to the Informant Mission
The "Challenge to the Informant" mission series in the Stroll n’ Patrol Adventure set invites players to test their knowledge of Sotenbori through a quiz, drawing on protagonist Joryu's extensive history with the city. Players can start the mission by heading to a building marked with a white exclamation point on the map, located southwest of the intersection of Bishamon Bridge and the Sotenbori Footpath.
Upon entering the building and climbing the stairs, the player will reach a small office occupied by a lone man wearing a silly hat named Quizzy Quester. To start a mission, the player should talk to the Quizzy Quester and agree to take on his quiz challenge.
How to Complete the Challenge to the Informant Mission
The "Challenge to the Informant" series comprises six quizzes, each presenting a single question about the city of Sotenbori. These quizzes unlock progressively, triggered by the player's advancement in the Akame Network. As the player increases their network level, new quizzes become available, indicated by the return of a white exclamation point at the Quizzy Quester's location.
With each new mission, the Quizzy Quester will then ask the player about a specific detail of the city of Sotenbori. The player can then choose from three possible responses. If the player chooses the correct answer as their first response, they will receive a 10,000 yen reward.
