In Lightyear Frontier, you will need to craft a number of items, but you'll need to collect all the materials to make them first. One of the many collectible materials out in the world is Red Crystal; there is really only one place to find these in any number in your Lightyear Frontier mech. You will need to look around the Pine Heights, which is most likely the place you will come to first after the Meadows. But you will also need to do some upgrades first to get any.

The best location to find these in Lightyear Frontier is along the ridges in Pine Heights. The map above should some great places to pick up this red-colored rock. If you want to know exactly what these rocks look like, here is screenshot to show what they look like in game.
Upgrades Needed to Get Red Crystal in Lightyear Frontier
In order to get any Red Crystals in this Day 1 Xbox Game Pass game, you will first need to upgrade your mech's tools. To upgrade the saw to a point where you can actually break the Red Crystals, you will need to build an upgrade depot. These cost 24 stone, four aluminum rods, and four aluminum frames. After that, you'll need some Aluminum Parts to pay for the actual upgrade. Here are all the upgrades for the saw and what they cost:
- Spike Saw Power I: Aluminum Parts (5)
- Spike Saw Power II: Aluminum Electronics (5), Caroot Oil (18)
- Spike Saw Power III: Iron Parts (5), Iron Electronics (2)
- Spike Saw Damage I: Aluminum Rod (3), Rabbage Oil (5), Power Core (1)
- Spike Saw Damage II: Iron Bar (3), Chromaize Oil (5), Power Core (1)
- Spike Saw Damage III: Fractalite Bar (3), Lumbloom Oil (5), Power Core (1)
Thankfully, you'll only need the first upgrade to get Red Crystal in this farming sim; you'll need just those aluminum parts and the depot.
Everything You Can Make With Red Crystal in Lightyear Frontier
There are two main recipes you can use Red Crystals. These recipes are:
- Red Crystal Dust in the Grinder
- Merchant Lander to get access to the Merchant
Red Crystal Dust is the main thing you will need these crystals for; Red Crystal Dust is used for making Red Glass, the Colour Mixer, the Weather Station, and you need it unlock one of the many vacuum upgrades. It's super important, so a good tip for beginners in Lightyear Frontier is to start gathering the Red Crystals as soon as possible and store them away for later.
