Summary

  • Lifeless Moon's Achievements on Xbox aren't visible post-launch, but players have reported unlocking them.
  • Serenity Forge is aware of the issue and working on a fix, though a solution may take time due to the small team.

Xbox fans who've been looking forward to playing Lifeless Moon may be disappointed to learn that the game's Achievements are currently not visible. Lifeless Moon is an indie sci-fi adventure game, made by developer Stage 2 Studios, where players explore the surface of the moon. The game initially launched on Steam in August 2023 and received solid reviews before landing on Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic Games Store almost a year later, on July 9, 2024.

Stage 2 Studios' Lifeless Moon is a prequel follow-up to Lifeless Planet, an adventure game of a similar vein, which launched a decade ago in 2014. Both Lifeless Planet and Moon feature light 3D platforming and puzzle solving, and the former follows the story of an astronaut as they discover old Soviet outposts and technology on a foreign planet. Lifeless Planet is known for its striking and unique imagery and its surreal sci-fi atmosphere.

Lifeless Moon Interview: Dev Talks Making a 2023 Prequel to a 2014 Game

The Best War Games speaks with the developer of Lifeless Moon about how it stacks up against his first title, its prequel nature, and more.

There seems to be a problem with Lifeless Moon's Xbox Achievements after its July 9 release. Replying to a Twitter post by publisher Serenity Forge celebrating the launch of the game, Clad_Master expressed that Lifeless Moon's Achievements aren't visible on Xbox. The game is listed as not supporting Achievements, and its page on TrueAchievements is also empty. However, players have reported having unlocked achievements for the game. Twitter user 1Coin1PlayGames replied with a photo showing that while all of Lifeless Moon's Achievements are indeed unlockable on Xbox, they're currently only visible by navigating to the "Recent Achievements" page on Xbox.

Publisher Serenity Forge Is Aware of Lifeless Moon's Xbox Achievement Issue

Thankfully, Serenity Forge has responded to Clad_Master, making it known that it's aware of the Achievement issue and is currently working on a fix. Since it seems Stage 2 Studios and Serenity Forge are very small teams, it's not known when they'll be able to get around to a solution. Additionally, since this involves Xbox's own Achievement system, this is likely going to be more than just a simple patch, as they may need to work directly with Xbox to make the Achievement list visible. It's safe to say that once this happens, the list will go live on TrueAchievements as well.

Rumors have been stirring for a while about Xbox reworking its Achievement system, and many Xbox fans have expressed a desire for something akin to PlayStation's platinum Trophies. The Achievement hunting community seems to be a small subsect of Xbox's wider audience, so it's not known how much Xbox prioritizes Achievements. It's for that reason that it's hard to know when Xbox will help make Lifeless Moon's Achievements visible to players on its platform.
