Developer Deck Nine has just confirmed that the next Life Is Strange game will be revealed on January 20, 2026. The next Life Is Strange will be unveiled via a YouTube livestream on the game's official channel.

This upcoming Life Is Strange game will be the seventh entry in the Life Is Strange series, and the fourth entry developed by Deck Nine, excluding the Life Is Strange Remastered Collection. The last entry in the series was released back in 2024 and was met with a rather divisive reception from both fans and critics alike. Life Is Strange: Double Exposure is currently sitting at a 71 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic, with many reviewers agreeing that although it offered a visually impressive nostalgia trip, Double Exposure lacked the emotional weight and compelling characters of its predecessors.

A New Life Is Strange Game Will Be Revealed on January 20

  • Airing January 20 at 10am PT/ 1pm ET/ 6pm GMT/ 7pm CT.

Undeterred by the somewhat mixed reception to Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, Deck Nine has officially announced that a new Life Is Strange game will be unveiled on January 20, making the announcement via an X post on the official Life Is Strange account. The announcement comes with the caption "Separate the real from the rumor... Join us for the exclusive reveal of the next Life is Strange game," and includes a link to a video on the Life Is Strange YouTube channel set to premiere on January 20 at 10am PT/1pm ET. The video is titled "Life is Strange Returns in 2026," seemingly suggesting that the new game will launch this year. The official Deck Nine X account has reposted the announcement, including the caption "See you all January 20th," which implies that the new entry is being developed once again by Deck Nine.

Interestingly, the caption included in the official Life Is Strange account announcement seems to be making reference to a rumor that hit the internet last week. On January 8, eagle-eyed fans spotted a PEGI rating for Life Is Strange: Reunion. According to this leaked PEGI listing, Life Is Strange: Reunion will see both Chloe Price and Max Caulfield return to the fore, with the former setting off to reunite with the latter at Caledon University, the primary setting of Life Is Strange: Double Exposure. While this PEGI rating was removed from the website quickly, fans did spot that it gave the unconfirmed game an age rating of 16, and a befuddling release date of March 3, 2025.

The recent announcement post's "Separate the real from the rumor" line suggests that there's something about these recent Life Is Strange: Reunion leaks that isn't accurate. Obviously, the PEGI rating's release date has to be wrong, but there might also be some aspects of the leaked story description that aren't accurate, or perhaps the upcoming game's title is different. Regardless, fans will know (at the very least) the official name of the next Life Is Strange game on January 20.

As well as a new game, the Life Is Strange series also has a live-action adaptation in the works. Announced in September 2025, a Life Is Strange show is currently in development at Amazon. British writer Charlie Covell, creator of Netflix's Kaos, will be the series' executive producer and showrunner, and according to a new report from The InSneider, Maisy Stella (Daphne Conrad in Nashville) could be in talks to star as Max Caulfield. The Amazon Prime series will adapt the first game in the Life Is Strange franchise, and there's currently no official release date or confirmed casting news.
