Sony has announced August 2025’s lineup of free PlayStation Plus Monthly Games, and one of the three titles on offer is a popular souslike considered to be one of the best of its kind: Lies of P. Boasting a Belle Époque style, similar to this year’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Lies of P is loosely based on Carlo Collodi’s 1883 novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio, where players become the titular puppet and engage in unnerving battles against abominations, after the city of Krat suffered a petrification epidemic as well as a puppet revolt.
It’s easy for gamers to take advantage of Sony’s monthly games by subscribing to PlayStation Plus. Premium, Extra, and Essential plans are all available, but the service’s free monthly games are available to download with any plan, as long as there’s a membership. PS Plus has been on a three-month streak when it comes to day-one releases, including Lost Records: Bloom & Rage - Tape 1 and Tape 2, Blue Prince, and FBC: Firebreak, which were all up for grabs this year.
Lies of P Devs Get Major Bonuses For Reaching Sales Milestone
The developers behind the popular Soulslike title Lies of P are given incredibly generous bonuses after the game reaches a huge milestone.
Announced in a blog post, Sony confirmed August 2025’s lineup of free PlayStation Plus Monthly Games included Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2. DayZ is a survival game pitting up to 60 players against hungry infected in a post-apocalyptic world, and My Hero One’s Justice 2 is a 3D arena fighter based on the My Hero Academia anime. Last month’s free PS Plus Essential games included Diablo 4, The King of Fighters 15, and Jusant, all of which were available to play on PS4 and PS5, and the subscription’s diversity continues into August to appeal to a wider audience of gamers.

Developed by Neowiz and Round8 Studio, Lies of P was also released on PC and Xbox consoles, and the game received critical praise for its visuals, sound design, soulslike elements, and aesthetic. Lies of P proved its worth and is a fitting example of a soulslike game that balances its difficulty perfectly, as some titles of this ilk can quickly become unrewarding if the gameplay is too hard.
Two years after its release, Lies of P hit an impressive sales milestone on PC and consoles back in June by selling millions of copies. Pinocchio’s story didn’t end there, however, as fans were recently treated to the game’s Overture expansion, which served as a prequel. The DLC allows players to return to Krat and experience the city before the events of the base game, led by a mysterious Stalker guide. Fans can also discover backstories, uncover harrowing secrets, and face more boss battles during the city’s final days, and the soulslike community can also look forward to the game’s sequel that’s already in development.
