One LEGO fan with a knack for city planning has built a historically accurate, nearly six-foot-tall skyscraper that mirrors the look of the New York City skyline in the 1920s and 1930s, and it's turning a lot of heads. The versatility of LEGO opens up a world of possibilities for creative minds, and this stalwart enthusiast of The Big Apple's architecture has used it to make a miniature amalgamation of some of their favorite buildings.

For one talented builder, that spark of creativity has resulted in the construction of a 70-inch-high skyscraper that draws inspiration from some of the most recognizable buildings in one of the most iconic skylines in the world. Reddit user Garant26 constructed this massive build using only leftover LEGO pieces from other kits and previous projects, and they have no idea what the LEGO piece count is, though it looks to be absolutely huge. It's technically still unfinished, as it's missing one wall at its base level, but that's by design, as the creator is hoping to connect it directly to a second building at its lower levels, like at 40 Wall Street in Lower Manhattan.

The process for creation of this skyscraper took about a full week of dedicated nights after work, amounting to five or six hours of planning and brick placement at a time. With their day job in city planning but no real-world architectural experience, its maker is still very knowledgeable about the construction of skyscrapers, utilizing a "sturdy base, a regular shaft and a fancy capital," to pull off a realistic look and design that would hold up in an actual urban jungle. The official inspirations listed for its creation are the Empire State Building and the Woolworth Building, but after one fan detected hints of the American Radiator Building on West 40th Street, the creator admitted it's one of their favorite buildings too. Even with its historical accuracy, this original build could even breach the realm of fantasy, as one fan of Batman's version of Gotham City compared it to that fictional universe's Empire State Building.

The only criticism anyone has seemed to put forth against this fan-made creation regards the trees at its base, with one fellow LEGO fan saying they look a little too large to fit into New York City's urban climate, even around 100 years ago. While the creator has made an attempt to keep everything to a realistic scale, they also admitted that they wanted the base of the building to be scaled to accommodate LEGO Minifigures, though they still believe the scaling of the sparse greenery is appropriate for the big-city feeling they were trying to recapture.

This LEGO fan has had a passion for New York City since early childhood, first getting to visit The Big Apple at the age of 8 after begging their father to go there. Sharing the LEGO creation has even resulted in a possibly fortuitous online meet-up, as the build has been praised by another LEGO fan who identifies as an actual architect and says that working together, they can "fix all the problems."
