LEGO Pokemon sets have quickly become the hottest collab for the Danish brand and were sold-out on launch, prompting a fan to recreate the one set that is inaccessible to almost everyone. It was not even 24 hours after their reveal and the start of their pre-order window that LEGO Pokemon set sold-out, specifically the big collector piece that is the Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set alongside the accompanying gift set based on the Kanto Gym Badges. It's unclear exactly how LEGO will handle the restocking, but each set should become available again on launch day, which is February 27.
This is no coincidence, as it's Pokemon Day 2026, the celebration of the 30 years of Pokemon since the release of Pokemon Red and Green in Japan, all the way back in 1996. Even though LEGO Pokemon sets will be available again, it remains unconfirmed how many units will be made available on launch and whether the Kanto Gym Badges set will return. Fans are assuming this is not the case, and even then, it was not sold separately — it could only be obtained as a gift for purchasing the Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set. For these reasons, a fan took the matter into their hands and recreated the set with different bricks.
4 More LEGO Pokemon Sets Without Smart Play Gimmick Detailed in New Leak
A new report from a credible leaker details four more LEGO Pokemon sets in the $70–$260 price range said to be targeting a 2026 release.
Here's How to Make Your Own LEGO Pokemon Kanto Gym Badges Set
A Reddit user by the name of pheob0 shared their creation on the LEGO subreddit and got thousands of upvotes for their build, which looks impressively similar to the original set that is no longer available. The recreated LEGO Kanto Gym Badges set is not 1:1 true to the original, as the storage box is red instead of blue, and the badges themselves have some differences due to the bricks used. Still, pheob0's build is incredible, and it's something anyone can make before the next batch of new LEGO Pokemon sets comes out.
While the Kanto Gym Badge Collection set can be found on the secondary market, such as eBay, it's worth noting that the price is extremely high, and the set is not actually in the hands of the sellers yet, as it will ship on February 27.
This is not to say that the fan-made LEGO build was an easy one to achieve, as the effort that went into it is outstanding, but rather that pheob0 updated the post with a comment, sharing a Google Drive link to a folder where fans can find the instructions to make a replica of this creation, as well as a BrickLink document with all the parts needed for the build. The fact that virtually anyone can now make their own Kanto Gym Badge Collection set can reduce or remove entirely the urgency to get it from other sources, and it helps new LEGO builders and veterans alike to enjoy the collab on their own.

How LEGO Fans Are Remaking Pokemon's Sold-Out Set
Obviously, one can also make all the modifications they like to pheob0's original build, and a few redditors have already shared their own builds. A common change is the exact position of the badges, as pheob0's lineup is not in the same order as you get each badge in Pokemon Red and Blue or Kanto remakes. In fact, the order would be:
- Boulder Badge: Obtained from Brock
- Cascade Badge: Obtained from Misty
- Thunder Badge: Obtained from Lt. Surge
- Rainbow Badge: Obtained from Erika
- Soul Badge: Obtained from Koga
- Marsh Badge: Obtained from Sabrina
- Volcano Badge: Obtained from Blaine
- Earth Badge: Obtained from Giovanni
The set can also be made with the same color palette as the original one from LEGO, as a fan by the name of No_Inevitable_3325 showed, also sharing a link to their Google Drive folder with a way to replicate it. This is arguably one of the best parts of collecting LEGO sets and bricks, as you can use the pieces you have in creative ways to make something entirely new or to make existing builds with different parts. If you're still looking for the official Kanto Gym Badge Collection set, unfortunately, you may have to wait a long time and still have no guarantees, but the fact that it can be made from scratch with other pieces should help you rest a little easier.
