Built into the sheer face of a hulking mountain, Minas Tirith stands tall as the capital of The Lord of the Rings' kingdom of Gondor, and according to a new leak, it could be the next iconic Middle-earth location to receive an official LEGO set. The recent report from the Brick Tap Instagram page claims that an upcoming LEGO Icons Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set (11377) will contain 8,278 pieces and at least 10 minifigures, will retail for around $600-650, and will release on June 1, 2026.

Of course, all rumors and leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt, but this LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set would fall neatly into line with the theme's recent offerings. And if these leaked specifications end up being true, then LEGO clearly has one specific target in mind, and that's die-hard Lord of the Rings collectors.

Every Confirmed LEGO Marvel Set of 2026 Has 3 Clearly Defined Targets, and They Live Up to All 3

LEGO has a dozen confirmed Marvel sets for 2026, and they have three specific goals to live up to - which they successfully do.

LEGO Minas Tirith Sounds Like a Premium Set For Hardcore Lord of the Rings Collectors

An 8,278-Piece Count Would Make LEGO Minas Tirith The 6th Biggest LEGO Set Ever

According to Brick Tap's report, the LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set could be the sixth-biggest LEGO set ever made, with its rumored 8,278-piece count putting it above the UCS LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon 75192, but just below the recently released $1000 LEGO Star Wars Death Star 75419. An 8,278-piece count would also make LEGO Minas Tirith the biggest LEGO Lord of the Rings set to date, beating out Rivendell by 2,111 pieces.

Given the gigantic in-universe size of Minas Tirith, a piece count of over 8,000 would make sense, with it needing to incorporate the city's circular walls, its tall palace, and the mountainous terrain it's all built upon. But at 8,278 pieces, it's crystal clear that LEGO isn't targeting younger audiences with this set, but hardcore Lord of the Rings fans. An age rating for this set hasn't been confirmed yet, but it seems very likely it'll be yet another 18+ LEGO Lord of the Rings set.

LEGO's age ratings don't signify inappropriate content, but instead denote the complexity of a set and its building techniques.

LEGO Minas Tirith's Rumored $600-650 Price Tag Reinforces Its Target Audience

While there are plenty of younger LEGO fans who have no issue building more complex sets, the price tag of 18+ sets often deters parents and guardians from getting them for younger children. Many wouldn't trust a six-year-old with a $600 phone, and that same rule likely applies to $600 worth of plastic bricks that could even more easily be misplaced. With a rumored $600-650 price tag, LEGO is clearly not aiming its Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set at younger audiences.

What Would Make LEGO Minas Tirith Worth The Money for Lord of the Rings Collectors?

Minas Tirith

$600–650 is a lot of money for a LEGO set, but there are several key elements that would get die-hard LEGO collectors and Lord of the Rings fans to drop the cash. The first key element is exclusive minifigures. LEGO fans are much more willing to a pay a premium price when they know they're getting some kind of exclusive content, and the most appealing type of content for many collectors is exclusive minifigs of iconic characters that feature unique printing not available in any other LEGO set. According to Brick Tap's leak, this set should feature at least a few exclusive minifigs, including Denethor II, Faramir, King Aragorn, and Gandalf's trusty steed Shadowfax.

Another key element that would make LEGO Minas Tirith worth the money for collectors is its faithfulness to the source material. LEGO Rivendell and Barad-dûr are renowned for their accuracy to the on-screen Peter Jackson versions, and capturing the intricacies of Minas Tirith's walled city would be an even more impressive feat for a LEGO set to achieve. Brick Tap's report claims that the front of the LEGO Minas Tirith set will be a microscale version of the city, while the back will presumably feature small dioramas that capture specific moments and interior locations from The Lord of the Rings movies, such as Denethor's throne room.

This combination of microscale and full-size LEGO dioramas would also give LEGO Minas Tirith plenty of room to deliver a third key element: Easter eggs. Though many LEGO collectors want a premium set to look as accurate as possible, a few built-in, subtle Easter eggs and references to the source material are always appreciated, such as LEGO Rivendell's inclusion of a Mithril shirt piece.

How The Leaked LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith Set Would Compare to Past LOTR Sets

Between 2012 and 2013, LEGO released 12 full sets based on The Lord of the Rings. LEGO then took a decade-long break from the world of Middle-earth, eventually returning in 2023 with LEGO Rivendell, a huge model that would begin a new wave of Lord of the Rings LEGO Icons sets that now consists of four entries:

Set Name

Set Number

Piece Count

Rivendell

6,167

$499.99

Barad-dûr

10333

The Shire

Balrog Book Nook

Though the LEGO Balrog Book Nook is a bit of an outlier due to its unique design purpose, the rest of LEGO's recent wave of Lord of the Rings Icons sets have set an incredibly high bar in terms of build quality, faithfulness to the source material, exclusive and well-detailed minifigures, and built-in Easter eggs. If the leaks turn out to be true, then the LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set would need to not only reach this high bar but surpass it, with it potentially costing $100–150 more than Rivendell and containing 2,000+ more pieces, which would be no small feat.
