LEGO has revealed a new Ideas-series set called Love Birds, a 750-piece display model scheduled for release in early 2026. As one of the few recent LEGO products with a clear romantic theme and a decently challenging build, it could prove popular for next year's Valentine’s Day.

While LEGO has released romantic-themed sets in the past, not all of them are designed with Valentine's Day gifting in mind. Its most recent entry in this niche, the Celebration Series: Valentine's Day Box (40759), launched in January 2025, is a heart-shaped box of chocolates featuring a simple 172-piece build aimed at children rather than adult LEGO fans.

'Love Birds' 21365 LEGO Ideas Set Officially Announced

LEGO has now announced one decidedly Valentine's Day gifting-friendly product with 21365 Love Birds, a 750-piece display-first kit rated for ages 18 and up. Revealed on December 9, the set is launching within the long-running LEGO Ideas theme, having been originally designed by one Micah Longden as part of a Valentine's Day 2025 contest called "Build from the Heart." After winning the competition, the concept was adapted into a mass-produced product by LEGO Group model designer David Guedes. The Love Birds set is currently available for pre-order directly from LEGO, priced at $49.99, and is scheduled for release on January 1, 2026.

LEGO Love Birds Form a Heart When Posed Together

The newly announced set consists of a flowering tree branch where two coral-pink lovebirds perch. It allows for multiple display configurations, including one that has the birds posed side by side so that their silhouette creates a heart when viewed from behind. This on-theme detail reinforces the set's decorative appeal, much like its 8.5" x 12" x 6.5" (22 x 31 x 17cm) dimensions, which make it compact enough to fit a wide variety of furniture. Both the name and theme of the newly revealed kit are reminiscent of LEGO's 40522 Valentine Lovebirds set, released in January 2022 and officially retired in December 2023. However, the earlier product was a smaller build with just 298 pieces and an age rating of 8+. In contrast, 21365 Love Birds offers a more complex building experience, making it a fitting Valentine’s Day gift for adult LEGO fans.

Looking at LEGO's dynamically updated Valentine's Day gifting ideas page, Love Birds is already featured among the first three recommendations, suggesting that the Danish toymaker will give it prominent placement leading into February. That visibility, combined with its relatively accessible $50 price tag, could make this upcoming LEGO Ideas release a standout Valentine’s Day 2026 gift. Currently, LEGO offers only two other romantic-themed products: 40638 Heart Ornament ($12.99) and 10328 Bouquet of Roses ($59.99). Of the two, only the rose bouquet provides a moderately challenging build that makes it a suitable Valentine's Day gift.

While LEGO's official online storefront is already offering advanced orders on 21365 Love Birds, the listing indicates that regional pre-orders are on the way as well. LEGO sets can be unpredictable in terms of production runs, especially those from the LEGO Ideas program, which begin as fan-submitted concepts. The retail lifespan of 21365 Love Birds will likely depend on its commercial performance. If sales are weak, the set could be officially retired in as little as six months, which is what happened with the aforementioned Valentine's Day Box. Conversely, strong demand could keep it in production indefinitely, as there is no fixed limit on how long LEGO may continue manufacturing it.
