The Hogwarts Express is the steam locomotive that runs six times a year between London's King's Cross Station and Hogsmeade, carrying students to and from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Wizarding World stylishly adapted this Muggle method of transport, creating a hugely important part of magical lore and a meeting point for many wizards and witches. The locomotive appeared in all eight Harry Potter movies, and this intricate collector's mode, which is built for display, showcases iconic scenes from four of them.

Is This The Best LEGO Hogwarts Express Yet?

The Hogwarts Express was there at the start of Harry Potter LEGO. The 410-piece set 4708 steamed in with the first wave of sets based on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Since then, nine other versions of the famous train have made it into brick form, including mini and LEGO advent calendar recreations.

The motorized Hogwarts Express, which came with a circular track and was released as part of a Prisoner of Azkaban wave in 2004, remains the only moving set. However, no fan will be disappointed with the Collector’s Edition, which includes 4,000 more pieces than any previous set.

Highlights include replicating key movie scenes on the famous King’s Cross station platform and the train itself. Despite being a display set, LEGO has ensured there are interactive elements, including the rolling steam motion activated by a roof crank.

The quality and ambition are evident in a set that even manages to outshine the much anticipated LEGO version of the legendary Orient Express, also released in 2023. Harry Potter fans know which one they want to magically appear in front of them this Christmas.
