While there is a series of interesting items added to LEGO Fortnite as part of the Lost Isles Update, fans have been in particular quite curious to learn more about the Free-Spin and Controllable Swivel, two distinct items that can be crafted for some pretty unique effects.
LEGO Fortnite: How to Get Cord
Cords are vital for crafting ranged weapons and the Explorer's Machete in LEGO Fortnite, and here's exactly how to get them.
Unlike some of the other items that were introduced as part of the Lost Isles update such as Stink Jars, getting to the Lost Isle is not mandatory to get both the swivels. Players can get these items from the get-go, although there is a catch.
How To Craft & Use Free-Spin Swivel
In order to get the recipe for the Free-Spin Swivel, players will need to add a Cord to their inventory. Crafting a cord requires players to get access to the Spinning Wheel first, which will require the following:
- 8 Planks: Crafted via a Lumber Mill with Wood.
- 5 Wooden Rods: Crafted via a Lumber Mill with Wood.
- 5 Wood: Harvested from trees and wooden structures.
- 5 Wolf Claws: obtained by hunting down wolves in the Grasslands/Plains biomes.
With the Spinning wheel ready to go, players can then use 5 Vines to craft a Cord. There is no prior requirement to unlock the Cord recipe. As far as Vines are concerned, players can easily find them by harvesting plants in the wild. Once players craft a Cord and add it to their inventory, the free-spin swivel recipe will be unlocked and they will be able to get it from the Build menu. Players will need 3 pieces of Granite and 2 Cords to craft the Free-Spin Swivel.
The Free-Spin Swivel can be used as a rotating base for structures, with the rotation being completely player-dependent. That is, it will only rotate if players manually push it. It can be used to build levers that are player-controlled, similar to how the helm of a ship works.
How To Craft & Use Controllable Swivel
The requirements for the Controllable Swivel are the same as the Free-Spin Swivel.
Players can unlock the Controllable Swivel by adding a Cord to their inventory and then by using 3 pieces of Granite and 2 Cords to craft it. However, the main difference is how it operates.
Unlike the Free-Spin Swivel, the Controllable Swivel can be rotated using structures with Square/X/E. This is probably much more useful than the Free-Spin Swivel, as it significantly lowers the complexity of building vehicles and other creative builds.
