  • Hisuian-exclusives in Pokemon Legends: Arceus can be sent to Paldea in Scarlet/Violet, where they have advantages such as access to abilities and more move options.
  • Trainers can consider transferring and evolving their Pokemon from Hisui in Pokemon Legends: Arceus to obtain unique and powerful Pokemon for battles in Scarlet/Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet gained compatibility with Pokemon HOME back in Summer 2023 while Pokemon Legends: Arceus players could transfer Pokemon from Hisui following the 2.0 update. Although there's no shortage of great Pokemon in Scarlet/Violet, trainers may want to consider sending Hisuian-exclusives to Paldea.

The Best Pokemon To Catch in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Trainers will be catching all the Pokemon that live in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but there are some that should definitely be caught early on.

Some Pokemon from Legends: Arceus will require players to evolve them in Hisui, first. This is due to Legends: Arceus' gameplay (ex: Strong/Agile Style moves), or because the Pokemon is a regional form, and thus can only be obtained in Hisui. The final step to migrating Pokemon to Paldea is to place Legends: Arceus Pokemon in the Pokemon HOME app on the Switch.

8 Overqwil

Dark/Poison-type

pokemon-legends-arceus-best-dark-type-pokemon-03-overqwil

Overqwil is a Hisuian evolution of Gen 2's Qwilfish. However, in Legends: Arceus, the Qwilfish are not Water/Poison-type, but instead Dark/Poison-type. While Johtonian Qwilfish can't evolve, Hisuian Qwilfish can. To evolve it, players need to have it use Barb Barrage Strong Style 20 times. Since Strong/Agile style moves do not exist in Scarlet/Violet, players will need to catch and evolve their Qwilfish before placing it in HOME.

6 Things Teal Mask Does Better than Isle of Armor

The Teal Mask and Isle of Armor are part 1 of Scarlet/Violet & Sword/Shield's expansion pack respectively, but what makes Gen 9 DLC better than Gen 8?

Stat-wise, Overqwil has amazing Attack and Defense while lacking in Special Attack/Defense. It's not the fastest Pokemon either, so it's likely it will move after the opponent in battle. However, Overqwil in Paldea has a few advantages over an Overqwil in Hisui. For one, Overqwil has access to Abilities (Poison Point, Swift Swim, or Initimidate (hidden)). It also can learn more moves through TMs, which didn't exist in Legends: Arceus. Furthermore, Overqwil's learnset includes more STAB moves (such as Crunch) that it otherwise could not learn in Hisui. Its unique typing is sure to make it helpful when battling gyms and Team Star in Scarlet/Violet.

7 Hisuian Samurott

Water/Dark-type

Pokemon Legends Arceus Best Water Type Hisuian Samurott

Oshawott was one of the three starter Pokemon in Legends: Arceus, and much like the other two, its final evolution was a regional form: Hisuian Samurott. Compared to Unovian Samurott, Hisuian Samurott is faster and stronger, albeit weaker Defense and HP-wise. Like Hisuian Qwilfish, players will need to evolve Dewott in Hisui to get Hisuian Samurott.

Players can also get the Unovian Samurott, but only if they transfer and evolve Oshawott/Dewott in Paldea.

Hisuian Samurott has a signature Dark-type move called Ceaseless Edge. If Hisuian Samurott has its Hidden Ability, Sharpness, then Ceaseless Edge's power is boosted by 50%. If Ceaseless Edge is successful, it will leave behind Spikes for the opposing team. A Hisuian Samurott in Scarlet/Violet has access to a variety of moves via leveling up and Egg Moves (through the Mirror Herb). This makes it more versatile than it would be in Legends: Arceus.

6 Hisuian Decidueye

Grass/Fighitng-type

Hisuian Decidueye in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Hisuian Decidueye is the final evolution of Rowlett in Legends: Arceus. One way of getting it in Scarlet/Violet was to defeat it in a 7-star Tera Raid Event. For those that didn't get this Decidueye, they'll need to transfer one from Legends: Arceus, or receive it in a trade from a friend. Following the pattern of Hisuian Samurott and Overqwil, Dartrix will only evolve into Hisuian Decidueye if it's in Hisui.

In contrast with the regular/Alolan Decidueye's typing, Grass/Ghost, Hisuian Decidueye is a Grass/Fighting-type. It's a bit slower than regular Decidueye, but it has higher base Attack, Defense, and HP. Most of Hisuian Decidueye's learnset in Scarlet/Violet are physical moves, which work perfectly with its typing and base stats. Hisuian Decidueye's signature move, Triple Arrows, has an increased critical hit. It also has a 50% chance of lowering the opponent's Defense by one stage, or causing the opponent to Flinch. If trainers are looking for a physical fighting Grass or Fighting-type Pokemon, then Hisuian Decidueye may be worth it.

5 Hisuian Typhlosion

Fire/Ghost-type

Pokemon Gen 8 Ghost

Hisuian Typhlosion received mostly mixed reviews when it was first revealed before Legends: Arceus' worldwide release. Despite its rough start, it eventually grew a name for itself thanks to its unique look, Typing, and signature move. Unlike its Johtonian counterpart, Hisuian Typhlosion is a Fire/Ghost-type, much like Scarlet/Violet's Skeledirge. Hisuian Typhlosion is a bit slower than Johtonian Typhlosion, but it makes up for it with higher Special Attack power.

Most of Hisuian Typhlosion's learnset in Gen 9 are Fire-type moves, with its only Ghost-type move being its signature move, Infernal Parade. This has a chance of inflicting Burn on an opponent and will deal double damage if the opponent is suffering from a status ailment (like the move Hex). However, to get more out of Hisuian Typhlosion's Ghost-typing, players will need to use TMs.

4 Hisuian Lilligant

Grass/Fighting-type

pokemon scarlet and violet unova liligant and hisuian liligant

Petilil and Unovian Lilligant can be found in Scarlet/Violet, so if players want a Hisuian Lilligant with their Trainer ID, they can catch their own Petilil and then transfer it through HOME. When using a Sun Stone on Petilil in anywhere but Hisui, it evolves into regular/Unovian Lilligant. Likewise, using a Sun Stone on it in Hisui will result in Hisuian Lilligant.

Hisuian Lilligant is essentially the opposite of Unovian Lilligant. She's faster, a poor special attacker, but a great physical battler. She has a unique move called Victory Dance that raises all her stats by one stage in battle. Hisuian Lilligant is a great Pokemon to use in all three stories of Scarlet/Violet thanks to her incredible Speed and Attack. A well-trained Hisuian Lilligant can 1HKO most of her opponents. However, her dual Grass/Fighting-type opens her up to more weaknesses, and makes her extremely weak to Flying-type moves. Her mediocre Defense and Special Defense means she won't be surviving opposing Pokemon with high Attack or Special Attack. This is something trainers will want to keep in mind when using her in battle.

3 Hisuian Zoroark

Normal/Ghost-type

Hisuian Zoroark & Zorua In Pokemon Legends Arceus

Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark are exclusive to Legends: Arceus, and unlike their Unovian forms, these Illusion Pokemon are Normal/Ghost-type. Players won't be able to catch Hisuian Zorua in Paldea or Kitakami, so they'll need to catch and transfer one from Hisui.

Compared to Unovian Zoroark (Dark-type), Hisuian Zoroark has better Special Attack and Speed. Despite this, most of its level up moves are physical moves, meaning trainers will want to use TMs to give it some variety. Unfortunately, Hisuian Zoroark's signature move, Bitter Malice, has been nerfed from Legends: Arceus to Gen 9. It has lower Power and PP, and it is incapable of inflicting status ailments. Instead, it lowers the opponent's Attack stat by one stage. Despite this, Hisuian Zoroark can be made into a great battler with the right moves and training.

2 Hisuian Goodra

Steel/Dragon-type

pokemon-legends-arceus-mesprits-trial-guide-02-hisuian-goodra

Trainers that want Steel/Dragon-type Hisuian Goodra will need to evolve their Goomy into Hisuian Sliggoo. Alternatively, players can just catch and transfer Hisuian Goodra into Scarlet/Violet. While Hisuian Goodra is more of a defensive Pokemon than a battler, it can make a great wall with the right moveset.

Pokemon Traditions That Gen 10 Needs to Break

The Pokemon series has been pretty consistent with many of its traditional elements, but Gen 10 should move on from a few for the sake of improvement.

Another advantage to Hisuian Goodra is its typing. Steel/Dragon-type negates the Fairy and Ice-type weaknesses. Instead, Hisuian Goodra's only weaknesses are Fighting or Ground-type moves. Given Hisuian Goodra's high Special Defense and Defense, it has a chance of withstanding some attacks that target these weaknesses. Although it may not be as good a battler as its Kalos counterpart, its capability to learn Steel-type moves give it coverage against Fairy, Ice, and Rock-type Pokemon.

1 The Creation Trio

Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina

Artwork Of The Creation Trio

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Legendary Pokemon are recommended for Scarlet/Violet. While likely to appear in future Tera Raid Events, players can get Palkia, Dialga, or Giratina from Legends: Arceus. Dialga is a Steel/Dragon-type, Palkia is Water/Dragon, and Giratina is Ghost/Dragon.

Dialga and Palkia have amazing Special Attack whereas Giratina has the better Defense, Special Defense, and HP. They make a great Pokemon for the party, depending on what trainers are looking for in a team. As Legendary Pokemon, their base stat totals are all 680, making them extremely powerful against Pokemon trainers in Scarlet/Violet's story mode. However, because they're Legendary, these Pokemon are usually only available near the endgames. Meaning they'll be well over level 65 at the time of their capture (with some exceptions). This means it likely won't obey unless players have all eight gym badges in Paldea. Thus, the Creation Trio are better off used in the late-game of Scarlet/Violet.

Pokemon: Legends Arceus and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available for Nintendo Switch.
