While it is possible to get a horse early in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, it is not until you complete "Impa's Gift" mid-game that you get Zelda's White Horse for permanent use. Unlike the rental horse, Zelda will almost always have access to her horse, with very few exceptions. This is because Zelda can use a special Echo to call her horse at any time. This guide will explain when and how players can start and complete "Impa's Gift" in Echoes of Wisdom, earning Zelda's Horse in the process.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Great Fairy Location
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Great Fairy can be found relatively early into Zelda's journey in exile.
How to Start Impa's Gift in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
"Impa's Gift" is not available from the start of Echoes of Wisdom. Instead, players will have to complete the game's first major quest chain, which culminates in the clearing of "Still Missing," and the Hyrule Castle rift. This becomes available after "Searching for Everyone" has been completed, which consists of the Suthorn Ruins, Gerudo Sanctum, and Jabul Ruins dungeons.
After completing Hyrule Castle, Zelda will wake up in her bedchamber, within the castle itself. Before leaving the room, make sure to learn the Zelda's Bed Echo. Upon leaving the chamber, you will be told that the King would like to see you in the throne room. Make sure to head there before leaving the castle, as this is where Impa can be found.
When you enter the throne room, you'll notice Impa is standing on the right side of the King. She will have the red bubble above her head, indicating she has a new quest to offer. After speaking with the King, go speak with Impa. This will initiate the "Impa's Gift" side quest.
How to Get Zelda's Horse in Echoes of Wisdom – Part 1
Head to Hyrule Ranch:
Impa will send you to Hyrule Ranch, which is found to the west of Hyrule Castle. She informs Zelda that her very own horse is waiting for her, which is the gift from the mission's title.
When you arrive at the ranch, look for the young girl with the carrot hair clip. She is standing in the northwest corner of the pen. She will reveal that Zelda's Horse is not currently at the ranch, and as she is speaking, a young boy will approach and explain that, while he was with the horse at the Carrot Patch, a rift opened up and took the horse with it.
Luckily, Zelda and Tri can close rifts, which is exactly what you'll have to do here. Make your way to the Carrot Patch, which is found just northwest of Hyrule Castle Town.
Hyrule Carrot Patch:
When you arrive at the Carrot Patch, you'll immediately notice a rift has completely overtaken it. There is an obvious entrance point for Tri to interact with, so Zelda can enter the rift whenever she is ready.

The Lynel Echo is one of the strongest Echoes you can get in Zelda: Echoes of WIsdom.
All Tri's Friend Locations in the Stilled Carrot Patch - Echoes of Wisdom
Before you can get Zelda's Horse, you'll have to clear the Stilled Carrot Patch rift. There are four of Tri's Friends in the rift for Zelda to collect. Follow these steps:
Tri's Friend 1:
Head west from the first grass field and you will reach a smaller grass field. On the western side of the field, you will see a single box sitting in a clear square patch. Destroy the box to reveal a hidden opening. Take the ladder down to the chamber below. There are two Dark Moblins in the chamber, with one clearly possessing Tri's Friend 1. Defeat the Dark Moblin to release Tri's Friend.
Tri's Friend 2:
From the grass field that leads to friend one, continue west across the pillar that forms a bridge, then head north along the main path. You'll encounter a field with several large boulders packed together among ruins. Tri's Friend 2 is found beneath a single large boulder at the northernmost point. Use Bind to move the large boulders until you reach the last one. You'll need to position them in such a way that you can pull the final boulder out. Tri's Friend will be waiting once the boulder is moved.
Tri's Friend 3:
Head back to the starting point and head north along the first field this time. At the northwest edge of this field, you'll find another lone box in a small clear patch. Move or destroy the box to reveal another hidden chamber entrance. When you enter the chamber, you'll see three boxes in a small gated-off section in the center of the room. The final box contains Tri's Friend 3. Follow these steps to recover it:
- When you reach the bottom, you'll need to use Bind to pull the slamming platform over to the right side of the chamber.
- When you ride the platform on the right side, you'll notice it stops short of the top. Use an Echo to make up the extra space.
- Jump to the upper level, then head to the left and press the button, opening the gate that blocks the boxes.
- Return to the center on the bottom level, and use Bind to return the platform to the left side.
- Destroy the boxes and recover Tri's Friend 3.
Tri's Friend 4:
To find Tri's final friend, head north after exiting the cave where friend three is located. You'll encounter a wall that you must climb, which can be done fairly easily with the Water Block Echo. At the top of the wall, turn left, and you'll see Tri's Friend 3 on a ledge fairly high in the air. You can reach the platform by stacking up four Old-Bed echoes from the higher part of the starting platform. When you reach the top, collect the third friend, and Tri will automatically complete the rift.
For completing the Stilled Carrot Patch, Zelda will receive Two Might Crystals, and Tri will receive a small amount of progress towards leveling-up.
How to Get Zelda's Horse in Echoes of Wisdom – Part 2
After completing the Stilled Carrot Patch, Zelda and Tri will return to Hyrule. While everyone is back safely, one of the stable hands will mention that Zelda's Horse is still nowhere to be found. Another hand responds that the smell of a fresh Carrot may bring her back around. The fact that you are at a Carrot Patch is no coincidence.
Approach the Carrot Patch and use Bind to pull one from the ground. Doing so will cause Zelda's Horse to immediately come running. Zelda will now take possession of her horse, and "Impa's Gift" will reach its conclusion.
Make sure to Learn the Carrot Echo before leaving the Carrot Patch. This is essential to using Zelda's Horse properly.

She will quickly eat the carrot, then be ready to ride. You will still be able to see where you left Zelda's Horse on the map, but you'll no longer have to fetch her.
