The Last of Us 2  features safes just like the first game, but things work a little differently this time around. Previously, as long as the player had located the safe code, they could open the safe no problem once they found it, but this time fans will have to remember the code and input it manually.

This means that those players too lazy or too busy to search for the codes themselves can access them much easier. This is the case for the Big Win Safe code found during Day 1 of Abby's story in the game.

For the quick and dirty answer, players wanting to open this safe easily need simply enter the code 17-38-07 into the safe. That said, for those wanting to do things the old fashioned way, they'll need to read the note pinned on the corkboard. The note says that the combination to the safe is the "big win," which refers to the writer's winning lottery ticket numbers. Zooming in on the corkboard shows a couple of numbers, but the set circled in red letters reveals the actual combination for the safe across the street.

After taking note of these numbers, players should head across the street to the safe. Opening it rewards the player with a Hunting Pistol as well as a hefty load of ammunition to help on the rest of the journey. Both the safe and the combination are located right after the ladder and boat puzzle, so it should be pretty easy to spot. This is one that fans won't want to miss, as the Hunting Pistol is a solid weapon that rewards skilled players. Though it can be difficult to get a hang of at first, its high damage output makes the struggle well worth it.

There are many other safes in The Last of Us 2,  which will provide characters with new weapons, holsters, ammunition, and crafting supplies, so it is in players' best interest to seek them out. It is very easy to miss things due to the large size of The Last of Us 2, so referring to a guide can be helpful sometimes.
