Naughty Dog has released update 1.0.5 for the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1, making some much need changes and improvements to this port. The Last of Us Part 1 received a ton of criticism when it came out on PC in March 2023, with players experiencing a wide variety of issues with the port.As a result of the problems, users started review bombing the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1, and it currently has a rating of mixed on Steam. The critical reception is not any better, as the PC port of The Last of Us Part 1 has a score of 57 on Metacritic, a sharp contrast to the PS5 version which is sitting at 88. Now, Naughty Dog has released patch 1.0.5 of The Last of Us on PC, which looks to solve some of the users' biggest complaints. Update 1.0.5 for the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 is now live, and it makes improvements in a variety of different areas. This patch will finally address a huge complaint from the user base, as it reduces shader building times for the PC port of The Last of Us. Naughty Dog has also optimized the code for better CPU performance, along with other performance improvements across several levels of the game. Furthermore, it comes with a few new graphical options that allow users to change the density of visual effects, while also adding a very low option for the Ambient Character Density settings.
Other major issues addressed by patch 1.0.5 include reduced VRAM impact of the quality of textures, which will allow users to increase this setting without facing performance penalties. This update for The Last of Us Part 1 also fixes some crashing issues present in the game along with a few additional bugs. Finally, the last section details some changes specific to AMD users, as players will now experience improved loading times.
