Update: Sony has clarified that Amazon France's PC listings for PlayStation exclusives were inaccurate and that nothing has been announced. The original story follows.
The Last of Us 2 is easily one of the most-anticipated games of 2020, and while Naughty Dog delayed The Last of Us 2 indefinitely due to complications caused by the coronavirus, it seems that the additional time may be used to bring the game to a larger audience, if a new leak turns out to be correct.
First pointed out by Twitter user Nibellion, a listing for a PC port of The Last of Us 2 appeared on Amazon France, though with verbiage indicating that it was not available for sale. Of course, Sony pulled Last of Us 2 from PSN after its delay, so it especially wouldn't make sense for a PC port to already be available for pre-order.
The possibility of Last of Us 2 on PC isn't all that crazy, after a confirmed PC port of Horizon: Zero Dawn was officially announced by Guerrilla Games. Horizon was a standout PlayStation exclusive title, and some concluded that it coming to PC was a sign that more PlayStation-exclusive games were on the way.
There is a large possibility that the listing was a mistake, and Amazon France simply selected the incorrect platform when creating the listing. Similar things have happened in the past, like when Walmart listed a new Splinter Cell game that never came to fruition– or at least hasn't been announced officially yet.
The announcement of Horizon on PC also led to a tsunami of negative feedback from a vocal minority of PlayStation fans, which may not have been the response Sony was anticipating. However, opening up The Last of Us 2 is, ultimately, a good thing. It increases the odds of the game selling well, and ensures that future entries in the franchise can be bigger and bolder than what has come before it.
It's hard to tell if the listing is legitimate, and it should be taken with a large grain of salt until Sony confirms something, but given that the Last of Us 2's delay was due to logistics and not development issues, the port may be a good way for Naughty Dog to try something entirely new with its game.
The Last of Us 2 has been delayed indefinitely.
