There are two ways to increase the power of a Sujimon in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth beyond raising its level. Specifically, it is possible to awaken Sujimon and evolve them, and players who want to build the best possible teams should plan to engage with both of those mechanics. Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth: How to Awaken Sujimon

To begin, it is important to understand that the stars beneath the "S" in the top-left corner of a Sujimon's portrait indicate its level of being awakened. Indeed, one filled-in star indicates that the Sujimon has been awakened once, two stars indicate that it has been awakened twice, and three stars indicate that it has been awakened three times. To create the most powerful version of a Sujimon, LaD: Infinite Wealth players must earn its third star, and that is done by following these steps:

By 
  1. Visit a Suji Stop (parking meters scattered across Honolulu) and select Awaken Sujimon.
  2. Select the Sujimon to be awakened. Its portrait will be illuminated if the player has the additional Sujimon that are required to perform the awakening (see the next step for more details).
  3. Select the Sujimon that will be "fed" to the awakening Sujimon in LaD: Infinite Wealth. Players must feed one Sujimon to take the awakening Sujimon from 0-stars to 1-star, two Sujimon to take it from 1-star to 2-stars, and three Sujimon to take it from 2-stars to 3-stars. The fodder Sujimon will be destroyed, and they must be the same species as the awakening Sujimon (or they can be Committee Agents, which can be used in the awakening of any Sujimon).

Players should feed only 0-star Sujimon to their awakening Sujimon whenever possible. Indeed, there is no benefit to using a partially-awakened Sujimon as fodder, and it is best to hold onto them.

Sujimon that are capable of evolving will automatically do so when they reach 3-star awakening, and all that a Like a Dragon fan must do is press "confirm" when they are prompted. If the player instead presses "cancel" at the evolution prompt, they can always initiate the transformation via a Suji Stop's Evolve Sujimon menu.

If a Sujimon hits 3-star awakening and does not evolve, it simply means that it is not capable of further transformation, and it has reached its most powerful form.
