A brand-new trailer for the upcoming KONOSUBA spin-off anime announced earlier this year in May has been released, and it reveals some more cast members involved in the project, as well as a little more information on its intended release date. KONOSUBA: An Explosion On This Wonderful World! Is scheduled for a Spring broadcast, with the most recent trailer slating the upcoming spin-off series for a debut sometime in April 2023.

The trailer was released on the official KONOSUBA Twitter account on Sunday, December 4, chosen because it was the main character Megumin's birthday. Along with the additional cast members and broadcast information, new character designs were also released, making Megumin's birthday this year a particularly eventful one.

Joining Rie Takahashi, who voices Megumin in the original KONOSUBA anime are Aki Toyosaki, returning to voice KONOSUBA supporting character Yunyun; Maria Naganawa (Kanna, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid) will play the role of Komekko; Shizuka Ishigami (Erina Nakiri, Food Wars!) will play Nerimaki, while Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika, Bocchi The Rock!) is cast as Dodonko in the upcoming KONOSUBA spin-off.

Miyu Tomita (Gabriel White Tenma, Gabriel Dropout!) and Kaori Nazuka, who played the titular character in the futuristic sci-fi fantasy anime Eureka Seven, have been cast as Funifura and Arue respectively. The upcoming KONOSUBA spin-off will be set a year prior to the arrival of Kazuma, and the various events that occur in the main series. It is based on the KONOSUBA: An Explosion On This Wonderful World! Light novels created by the original creators of the main KONOSUBA series, Natsume Akatsuki and Masahito Watari.

As announced previously, KONOSUBA: An Explosion On This Wonderful World! Will be directed by Yujiro Abe, episode director of Kaguya-sama: Love is War!, at Studio Drive, with support from the director of the main KONOSUBA anime series, Takaomi Kanasaki. KONOSUBA: An Explosion On This Wonderful World! Will be produced by various staff returning from roles in the production of the main series, such as the series character designer Koichi Kikuta returning alongside the series composer, Makoto Uezu.

The brand-new trailer for the anticipated KONOSUBA spin-off arrives almost four months after the release of the first explosive trailer and leaves around the same amount of time before the series is set to make its debut. The third season of the main series, KONOSUBA: God's Blessing On This Wonderful World!, is currently in production at Studio Drive, but no release window for that branch of the franchise has been announced at this point in time.
