Konami has issued a warning to hopeful fans of Silent Hill f regarding a new playtesting scam. Silent Hill f enthusiasts should be careful and inspect any claims they find online thoroughly to ensure that they're not being taken advantage of.
Silent Hill f, as the first fully original game to join the franchise in many years, has a lot riding on it and a ton of hype surrounding it. Silent Hill f will take players to mid-1900s Japan, with a mysterious story of horror surrounding playable character Hinako. Those who are desperate to learn more about the title should be especially aware of this scam.
Silent Hill f Waiting Room Playlist
Silent Hill f is on its way, and those looking for an appetizer should check out some of these horror titles, which share some of the same DNA.
Konami has issued an official warning on both its Japanese and English social media accounts warning players about a fake playtest being advertised on the web. According to Konami, there's an unnamed social media account that claims that it's hosting a closed beta test for the upcoming horror game. However, the claim is fake, and has no connection to Konami or Silent Hill in any official capacity. This scam asks players for their personal details as part of the so-called sign-up process.
Fake Game Playtest Scams Are an Unfortunate Trend
Unfortunately, Silent Hill f isn't the only game that's been subject to a scam like this in recent times. Earlier in 2025, fans shared warnings in the community about a fake Elden Ring Nightreign playtest that seemed to also be trying to scam people. In that case, clicking on the included link to the so-called playtest would lead to a user's Steam account mass-messaging those on their friends list with the same ad, while others had problems with Steam's two-factory security after clicking the link.
Scams tend to prey upon those who are extremely eager for something, and a majorly hyped upcoming game like Silent Hill f is a perfect example of how anticipation can be used against people. Those who are hoping to learn more about the game should stick with official channels and reputable websites. Any official opportunities will be shared by Konami's official social media accounts, so if it isn't mentioned there in any way, players would be better off assuming any playtests or other deals that seem too good to be true are fakes.
Although Silent Hill f has received a more fleshed-out trailer teasing what fans can expect from the game following its original cryptic reveal, there are still a lot of questions surrounding the upcoming game, including its release date. While there's some speculation that Silent Hill f could release earlier than initially expected, nothing has been confirmed by Konami just yet.
