- Minato won the Naruto Top100 Poll
- The winner got a one-shot from Kishimoto
- Kishimoto wants to draw an Itachi one-shot next
Masashi Kishimoto, the author of the Naruto series, has enjoyed his time away from drawing manga for quite a while. Naruto ended serialization in Jump around a decade ago, and fans know that his second manga, Samurai 8, ended up getting axed. Masashi Kishimoto is a brilliant mangaka and even though he didn't find success with Samurai 8, seeing him stay away from manga for long isn't fun for any fan.
Naruto: The Contenders For The Position Of Fourth Hokage, Explained
Minato was the 4th Hokage. There were other contenders for that position in Naruto.
That's precisely why the Naruto fandom erupted in joy when Kishimoto dropped the Minato One-shot about two years ago. With the Minato One-shot out already, fans are now waiting for another One-shot, this time, on Itachi Uchiha, which Kishimoto said he might drop himself.
Masashi Kishimoto Dropped A Minato One-shot In 2023
- Minato Won The Naruto Top100 Poll
- The Winner Received A One Shot From Kishimoto
The Naruto global popularity poll was conducted in 2022-2023 and everyone in Jump was impressed with how much Naruto was still loved worldwide. The poll was truly fun, with fans getting to vote for their favorite characters each day for a specific period of time. At the end of the poll, the votes were counted and the winner was declared to be Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage of Konoha. The winner of the poll would receive a one-shot manga from Kishimoto himself, and on July 17, 2023, fans finally got their hands on the Minato manga, which was absolutely phenomenal.
I shall call it the Rasegan. — Kushina Uzumaki naming Minato's jutsu.
Naruto: Kishimoto Reveals The Hardest Arc For Him To Draw In Naruto
Drawing Naruto was no easy task. Kishimoto reveals which arc was the most challenging to illustrate.

Kishimoto Wants To Draw An Itachi One-Shot Next
Kishimoto Might Even Draw A New Manga
At the moment, fans don't know when Kishimoto will return with his next work, but in 2024, he confirmed that he would love to do more one-shots like the Minato one. Kishimoto stated himself that he's thinking about whether to do more one-shots or not, and that if he does, he'd like to go based on the ranking of characters. As fans know, the one who finished second on the poll was Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke's elder brother. Naturally, if there's another Naruto one-shot, it will be focused on Itachi. Here's what Kishimoto said about the one-shot manga:
Yes, I would like to do others, but I am taking the time to think about it. In fact, I based myself on a ranking of characters made among readers. Minato was the first. The second is Itachi… I say it half-jokingly, but you never know. — Masashi Kishimoto
As is quite clear, Kishimoto wants to draw more one-shots, and even though he isn't certain, he does entertain the possibility. Kishimoto being open to more one-shots means that fans will get more Naruto content in the upcoming years.
More than that, Kishimoto might even return with a full manga as well. He stated in the same event that his focus is on a new manga as well. Whether this is another Naruto sequel that he wants to write himself or a completely new manga series remains to be seen, but fans will absolutely love it whenever Kishimoto is ready to make his return to Jump and entertain fans just like the old days.
