The Kirby Air Riders amiibo collectibles started appearing on retailer websites, revealing a steep $49.99 price tag. That figure may come as an unwelcome surprise to some fans, signaling that Kirby Air Riders will push amiibo into completely uncharted territory.
An arcade racer co-developed by Bandai Namco and Sora, Kirby Air Riders is scheduled for release on November 20. As is typically the case with Nintendo exclusives, even third-party ones, the upcoming Switch 2 title will be accompanied by several themed Amiibo.

Kirby Air Riders Amiibo Figures Cost Nearly As Much as the Game Itself
During the latest Nintendo Direct, the Japanese gaming giant revealed two Kirby Air Riders Amiibo figures: Kirby & Warp Star and Bandana Waddle Dee & Winged Star. Within hours of the September 12 showcase wrapping up, major stateside retailers opened pre-orders for both products, priced at $49.99 a piece. That's the highest MSRP ever attached to an Amiibo figure in the United States. For reference, Kirby Air Riders itself will retail for $69.99.
Kirby Air Riders Amiibo Figures
- Kirby Air Riders Series Kirby and Warp Star ($49.99)
- Bandana Waddle Dee & Winged Star ($49.99)
Store listings describe the Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee Amiibo as two-piece offerings, allowing collectors to mix and match characters with different rider-machine combinations. The design suggests that more similar Amiibo could be in development, aimed at expanding customization options. The dual-component format appears primarily intended to encourage multiple purchases from fans interested in pairing characters with vehicles beyond their default matchups.
In April 2025, Amiibo have gotten more expensive in the United States, with many popular models rising from $29.99 to $39.99. The change occurred without much fanfare, with neither Nintendo nor its licensed distributors directly acknowledging it. However, around the same time, the company raised prices of the then-upcoming Switch 2 accessories, attributing the move to unfavorable economic conditions. That explanation appeared to reference the still-ongoing tariffs that the Trump administration turned into a cornerstone of its trade policy. In light of that acknowledgment, it's likely that the Amiibo price hike was driven by the same factors.
Back when Nintendo first introduced its NFC-compatible collectibles in 2014, a typical Amiibo was retailing for $12.99 stateside. More expensive variants, usually oversized figurines, have been a thing since 2015, but they were few and far between. At $49.99, the upcoming Kirby Air Riders collectibles will be pricier than even the most expensive Amiibo to date, including the elusive Mega Yarn Yoshi and Detective Pikachu, released in 2015 and 2018, respectively.
