The Night-Mare is the fifth quest in the Brushes with Death DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and the first to take place in Kuttenberg. Players can start this quest after finishing Portrait in Red, when Master Votya says he is traveling back to Kuttenberg. They will find him in his house just to the east of the west gate, and unfortunately, his art commission for Sedletz Monastery has been taken by an old rival, Bellissimo.
How To Compete in Horse Racing & Archery In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Here is how players can complete the quest and try Horse Racing and Archery in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
How To Get Dirt On Bellissimo - The Night-Mare - KCD2
When thinking of ideas to get Votya his commission back, the best option is to try and uncover some dirt on Bellissimo. As he stays at the bathhouse by the horse market in the south-west corner of Kuttenberg, players should head there and talk to Beatrice, the madam. She will complain about Bellissimo and let Henry know that his room might be a good place to look. While she cannot give Henry outright permission to snoop around, she does offer a good idea to spend time with one of the girls so that he gains access to the upper floor.
Finding Bellissimo's Room
The instructions to find Bellissimo's room are as follows:
- Inside the bathhouse, head up the main stairs.
- At the top of the stairs, there's a locked door on the left.
- Once inside, head up the wooden stairs.
- At the top of the wooden stairs, Bellissimo's room is the first on the right and locked.
Naturally, it is best to do this at night when everyone is asleep. To skip the first two steps and gain access to the upstairs region, consider asking for the full package at the bathhouse, as Henry and one of the maids will go upstairs.
The Evidence In Bellissimo's Room
Upon entering Bellissimo's room, look to the left where there's a wooden cabinet. On top, there is a letter from the monastery that can be read.
Steal Bellissimo's alcohol from his room now to save yourself time later.
That is all that is required, so h ead back to Votya's house in the morning with the evidence.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - How To Paint Shields
With the new DLC, Brushes with Death, players can now get their shields painted in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Gather Items For Henry's Devil Disguise - The Night-Mare - KCD2
Votya's plan is to get Bellissimo drunk and then scare him into fleeing the city by dressing Henry up as a devil. To do so, Henry will need to find the following items.
- Bascinet with a visor: Consider finding a cheap helmet, as its appearance will be changed. None of the Kuttenberg Armorers sell cheap, low-quality helmets, so the best thing to do is look for bandits on the road and take theirs.
- 3 Torches: A general trader, a few buildings west of Votya's house, sells 2 torches, and there's another trader next to the Hangman's Halter Tavern.
- 5 Eggs: The baker along the same street and to the east of Votya's house sells 6 eggs.
Naturally, these items can also be stolen or looted. Eggs, for example, can be stolen from chicken coops or found in nests.
Once players have all these items, head back to Votya's house for the next stage of The Night-Mare quest. Handing these items to Votya will grant Henry Spooking Equipment.
How To Get Bellissimo Drunk - The Night-Mare - KCD2
Bellissimo will only get drunk downstairs in the bathhouse if he runs out of his personal stock of alcohol. Therefore, Henry must return to his room to steal it.
Steal Bellissimo's Alcohol From His Room
Use the same methods from above for sneaking into Bellissimo's room, but this time you will need to get into his chest.
To do so, either pickpocket his keys while he sleeps or lockpick the chest. There should be 5
Schnapps in there. Take them all.
Get Drunk With Bellissimo In The Bathhouse
After 9 pm at night, players should get an objective notification informing them that they can now go to drink with Bellissimo at the bathhouse tavern.
Simply talk with him to begin. Players will then get various dialogue options, but for the most part, these shouldn't matter. Some of the later options will be to convince Bellissimo to drink alone, or Henry can try to secretly pour out his own drink. The aim is for Henry not to get too drunk.
Getting Bellissimo Back To His Workshop
Bellissimo may eventually get so drunk that he passes out on the floor. In this case, carry him to his workshop, which has an objective marker. You will have to drop him before opening the doors.
There are other ways for this stage to play out, and Bellissimo may walk back to his workshop by himself.
Once you drop Bellissimo inside his workshop, the scaring can begin.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - How To Get The Secret Sigismund Ending
Most players won't know about a secret early ending for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, involving King Sigismund.
Scaring Bellissimo
Henry will change into his devil's costume automatically, and most of the scaring is automatic dialogue. Don't worry about choosing which of Bellissimo's minor sins to focus on, as you'll get to come back and select the others after. These include drinking and lying. However, for the skill check, it's arguably easiest to choose:
- You betrayed a friend! - To have this option, players must have talked to Beatrice at the bathhouse and found out more.
Once Bellissimo has been successfully scared and has run away, players should return to Votya to finish The Night-Mare quest. Thankfully, this is not the last quest for Brushes with Death, and players can ask Master Votya questions to start another.
