Summary
- The Knight's Longsword in the lake is one of the most powerful early-game swords in KCD2, and it's free.
- The sword is found near a dock in the bog, not marked on the map.
- The sword has great stats (71 base attack), but needs repairs.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has some memorable swords, but one of the most powerful swords early in the game is easy to miss. It's also absolutely free. The Knight's Longsword has a pretty powerful damage attack, and although it typically costs more Groschen than most players have at the start of the game, they can still get one of the best weapons right at the beginning of the game.
Like every Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 weapon, the Knight's Longsword has variable quality. No two Knight's Longswords are the same, making this longsword even better. It's Quality 2, meaning it's miles ahead of most weapons players can afford early in the game. In order to get their hands on it, however, players will have to venture quite a way from Troskowitz.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - All Longsword Combos & Where To Learn Them
There are 10 longsword combos in KCD2 for players to learn, and this guide will show players where they can pick up these master techniques.
Where To Get the Sword in the Lake in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
This particular sword is hard to discover because it isn't marked as a POI on the map. However, it is near a place of interest. Players can find the Drowner's Map here, which takes them on a treasure hunt. Before leaving the area, however, players will want to search the nearby bog area for the sword in the lake.
To find the sword, first go to the dock that leads to the drowned men. With the dock behind Henry, move south into the bog. There's a boar spawn right next to the sword, so if players see that they have entered a boar hunting area, then they're in the right area.
If players have Mutt with them, he will bark and lead Henry to the sword. Good boy!
Eventually, players should come across a sword sticking up in the middle of the pond. There should be a pair of Vagabond Shoes right near the water's edge, too. Players can take the shoes, especially if their own shoes need repair, as well as the sword. Once players pick up the sword, they'll discover that it's a Knight's Longsword.
Now, how the sword came to this location is up for debate. Considering that it's close to where a group of men drowned, it may be tied to them. Perhaps whatever befell them also befell the person carrying this sword.
Another theory is that something in the bog snatched the vagabond, leaving only their sword and shoes behind. If so, this creature never came after Henry. The sword may also be an Easter Egg, which is likely since Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has its share of hilarious Easter Eggs. It could reference the legend of King Arthur and the sword in the lake. In the legend, King Arthur receives his sword from a mysterious woman called the Lady of the Lake. While no woman offers this particular sword to Henry, it is similar to the legend.
Of course, there's also the chance that the person who held the sword originally simply fell into the water and drowned. Whatever the story, players can now get their hands on a great item that will make battling bandits a lot easier.
The Sword in the Lake's Stats
The Knight's Longsword that's found in the swamp has some pretty great stats, especially for beginners. Players can expect the following stats from this sword in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2:
- Base Attack: 71
- Starting Condition: 25
- Weight: 4.4 Pounds
- Base Selling Price: 46.3
With a base attack of 71, that puts this Knight's Longsword significantly higher than a lot of other starting weapons that Henry can find or purchase in Trosky. Now, the real problem is the condition. It's as if the devs knew that the sword might be a bit too powerful for players to have right at the beginning. Before using it, players should head to the local blacksmith and have it repaired or repair it themselves with a blacksmith kit.
The best part about the Knight's Longsword in the lake is that it's free. All it takes is a bit of time for players to get to the swamp and find it. Once in Henry's hands, players will have a much easier time dueling knights in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, slaying bandits, and fending off the wildlife.
