While players travel through the Kuttenberg Region in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 they might stumble with the side-quest Ransom, which is particularly difficult for a secondary mission.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Post Scriptum Walkthrough
Helping the Miners write a letter in Post Scriptum? Here are all the possible outcomes in this KCD2 Sub Quest guide.
So, for those struggling with how to beat Farkas at his sinister game, this guide covers everything they need to know to help Jan to rescue his brother from the evil hands of Sigismund's mercenaries. But first, let's take a look at how to trigger this side-quest.
How To Start Ransom In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
To start the Ransom Sub-Quest in KCD2, players need to travel from Miscowitz to Kuttenberg, and trigger the 'Ambush by the road' random encounter, to find Jan of Suchotlesky fighting against some Cuman mercenaries.
After taking them down, approach Jan to talk about the ambush and how Henry can help him find his brother, who has been taken captive by another group of Cuman Bandits at the service of Sigismund. He will grant them a letter of introduction and send Henry to talk with László Farkas, the leader of the Cumans who has his brother Peter captive.
How To Find László Farkas In KCD2
Players should travel to Sigismund's Camp to start the search for Farkas. If players complete the Lost Honour Ques t, they will be able to access without issue. Then they should ask the guard by the gate the whereabouts of the Cuman leader. He will tell them that either the Bathsmaiden, the camp Medic, or the local Cleric knows where to find him.
Speaking to the medic is the most straightforward way to find Farkas, but to make things even simpler, go to the middle of Sigismund Camp and look for the Cuman tents (orange with stripes) and Henry will be able to find László drinking there with his buddies.
Just by speaking to him, Henry will constantly lose his reputation, since he is not only stubborn but also quite annoying. He refuses to negotiate, and constantly sets the terms to his favor. There's something fishy here, and players can either go and tell Jan about Farkas' conditions, or investigate further.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Damsel in Distress Guide
Struggling to find the Damsel In Distress in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? Here's how to start and complete this task.
We recommend players to do the second. Ask the medic of the camp where to find the prisoners, and he will reveal some critical information when inquiring who they're looking for. Seems like Sir Peter Suchotlesky has died in the custody of the Cuman mercenaries, and Farkas is trying to mess with Jan and Henry, or worse.
How To Complete Ransom In KCD2
Now, players can choose to confront Farkas, to which he will offer them another deal: to kill Jan and side with the Cumans. If players want to live honorably, they should refuse this option. Instead, the best approach here is to go back to Jan and warn him about Farkas' misdoings.
Jan will then set an optional objective which is to recruit forces to face Farkas and his Cumans once and for all. Depending on which series of secondary quests players have completed by now, they should have plenty of allies in the region.
They can go ask Goliath from the Thieves Guild, Kubyenka and Adder from the Devil's Den, or Menhard's swordsmen from the Kuttenberg Guild.
It is up to the players, they can also try and face Farkas alone, but it is not recommended unless they have full plate armor and a really good level.
Should Players Side With Farkas Or Jan?
Once facing Farkas in the Abandoned Mill outside Sigismund's Camp, he will reveal his true intentions: to take all of Jan's money or kill him and take it by force. He will tell Henry that he can leave Jan to die and he will spare him, but that wouldn't be honorable.
If players want to unlock the Good Ending of the game, they should try their best to live by the Knights' code, so Farkas can bite the dirt, it is time someone teaches him a lesson.
Besides, siding with Farkas will automatically fail the quest, and players will receive no reward. Meanwhile, if players side with Jan, they will receive Sir Peter Suchotlesky's Sword, a powerful longsword that is one of the best weapons in the game.
