Killing Floor 2: Best Firebug Weapons, Ranked

Fans who prefer the Firebug class in Killing Floor 2 can't go wrong with the following weapons.

The Commando class may seem like a relatively basic choice at first, with no real specialty outside of assault rifles, but it has many advantages and is likely to level at a fast rate, since it will gain XP when using any assault rifles in the game. There are plenty of great guns at the Commando's disposal, and these are the best ones to look for when visiting a trader.

8 SCAR-H Assault Rifle

A Decent Assault Rifle For The Early- To Mid-Game

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons SCAR H
  • Cost: 1500 Dosh
  • Carry Weight: 6 KG

The US Special Forces SCAR-H is a high-damage assault rifle perfectly suited to the strengths of the Commando class. With a red dot sight and a choice of semi or full-auto firing modes, the SCAR-H is a versatile weapon which suits most maps.

In addition to its precision and stopping power, the SCAR-H also has a high chance of stumbling enemies. The only drawback is its relatively limited ammo capacity of just 20 rounds, which will force players to spend a lot of time reloading unless they upgrade this gun at the trade menu.

7 Kalashnikov AK-12

A Powerful Rifle With Strong Upgrade Potential

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons Kalashnikov AK-12
  • Cost: 1100 Dosh
  • Carry Weight: 6 KG

The AK-12 is another mid-tier assault rifle equipped with a red dot sight, though it has noticeably more power than the SCAR-H and should be able to one-shot lower level enemies, including Gorefasts, if aimed at the head. Players can choose between burst fire and full-auto modes, though burst fire will actually do slightly more damage with a bonus to headshots.

Upgrading the AK-12 will reduce reload times, which can also be further reduced with the Tactical Reload Commando perk. As a relatively cheap rifle with a low carry weight, it can make a great backup weapon for all classes heading into the later rounds, but can certainly be used as a primary for most games as well.

6 Mkb.42(H) Carbine Rifle

This Classic Rifle Is Both Stylish And Efficient

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons Mkb.42(H) Carbine Rifle
  • Cost: 1100 Dosh
  • Carry Weight: 7 KG

What this German WW2 rifle lacks in fire rate, it more than makes up for in damage and accuracy. While not equipped with any fancy modern sights, the Mkb.42 is still very effective at close- to mid-range, and will help significantly weaken some of the tougher enemies in the game, such as Scrakes or Sirens.

Since it is relatively cheap and does not take up too much carry weight, it can make an ideal secondary weapon in the later rounds, or alternatively, can be upgraded and used as a main. With a choice of single-shot and fully-automatic, it is a versatile weapon and works well on maps of all sizes.

5 SA80 L85AS2 Bullpup

A Unique Rifle That Is Both Reliable And Accurate

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons SA80 L85A2 Bullpup
  • Cost: 650 Dosh
  • Carry Weight: 5 KG

The SA80 is widely known as the primary standard issue weapon of the British Armed Forces. Equipped with a holographic sight, this rifle is arguably one of the best early-game weapons players can choose, and with upgrades as the rounds progress, it can easily hold up through to the late-game as well.

The damage it deals is substantial enough to kill most low-level Zeds with a single headshot, but the real benefit is the accuracy of the weapon. Even when hip-firing, bullets seem to have a way of finding their target reliably, unlike many other weapons in the game.

4 Stoner 63A LMG

A Fast LMG With Good Accuracy And High Damage

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons Stoner 63A LMG
  • Cost: 1500 Dosh
  • Carry Weight: 9 KG

The Stoner 63A LMG is arguably one of the best machine guns in the game, particularly when upgraded to give it additional damage. Most enemies can be taken down in just a few hits, leading to a devastating "mowing" effect when faced with weaker enemies.

Against bosses and larger Zeds, the Stoner still fairs relatively well, though it may be wise to have a backup weapon or drone on standby due to lengthy reload times and a limited ammo capacity. Overall, it is a great weapon and well worth considering on some of the game's more open maps.

3 MG3 Shredder

A Powerful LMG Capable Of Taking On High-Tier Opponents

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons MG3 Shredder
  • Cost: 2000 Dosh
  • Carry Weight: 9 KG

The MG3 Shredder is another powerful LMG with both high damage and a high rate of fire. However, what makes this weapon unique is its alternative firing mode. This mode allows the Shredder to shoot specialized ammunition which literally shreds opponents as it fans out.

Players who want to find the most success in Killing Floor 2 should choose these weapons.

As a result, this makes for an ideal weapon when faced with large groups of weaker enemies, though its decent magazine capacity and stopping power also make it reasonably effective against larger Zeds. When upgraded, the MG3 becomes even more devastating with both damage and accuracy improvements.

2 FAMAS Masterkey

A High-Damage, High-Accuracy Rifle With Several Beneficial Functions

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons FAMAS Masterkey
  • Cost: 1000 Dosh
  • Carry Weight: 6 KG

The FAMAS Masterkey prioritizes accuracy and damage with a long-ranged scope and underbarrel shotgun. The dual nature of this weapon means players can feel safe at any distance. The standard long-range ammunition is very effective at taking out any low- to mid-tier enemies, while the shotgun can take down larger enemies when they come into range.

Players can easily see out an entire match just using this weapon in combination with a Sentinel, and at its relatively cheap price, it can usually be unlocked after the first couple of waves. Overall, the FAMAS Masterkey is an excellent choice for Commandos regardless of their chosen perks.

1 Minigun

The Supreme Room-ClearingTool When It Is Available

Killing Floor 2 Commando Weapons Minigun
  • Cost: 2000 Dosh
  • Carry Weight: 10 KG

The Minigun is a heavy-duty, rapid-fire machine gun commonly used on helicopters and jeeps, but it also makes for an excellent zombie-killing tool in the hands of the Commando. In addition to an incredibly high rate of fire, rounds from the Minigun will do a fair amount of damage too.

While recoil can be a factor when firing in prolonged bursts, generally this won't be necessary, as even small bursts are capable of wiping out large swathes of enemies. The Minigun will likewise work well against bosses, though slow reload times can leave players vulnerable against them.
