Shonen manga series are witnessing a major shift over the course of the last few years and this is because of the conclusion of some of the most iconic series out there. The fact that anime and manga are as mainstream today as they are is primarily down to how popular the shonen series have become worldwide. As such, series like Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, and Bleach are primarily responsible for the growth that anime and manga have seen over the years. Then came series like My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Demon Slayer, which went on to elevate the whole medium to a completely different level and give a modern touch to it, making it even more popular than ever before.

However, over the last few years, the shonen manga industry has taken quite a hit, with some of the biggest works officially wrapping up. Demon Slayer, which is one of the highest-selling manga series of all time, ended in 2020. Just 4 years later in 2024, My Hero Academia followed suit as well. A couple of months after the conclusion of My Hero Academia, Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen ended, and Jump was left without its three biggest series, with One Piece being the only one standing on top. Then came Kagurabachi, which, although it endured a difficult start, has established itself as one of the most popular new-generation manga out there. Now Kagurabachi has officially completed its first part.

Kagurabachi Is The Biggest New Gen Shonen Manga

Kagurabachi part 1 end

When speaking of new generation manga, many fans still think of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen as a part of the group. The truth is, these series have already left their own eras behind and a completely new era has begun in Shonen Jump. In the true new generation of Shonen Jump, Kagurabachi is the leader as it is quite easily the most popular new series. Kagurabachi began its run in Weekly Shonen Jump in late 2024, by the talented artist Takeru Hokazono.

This is a story of sorcerers and samurai, and more than that, a story of revenge and closure. Kagurabachi is an absolutely brilliant series that fans have come to love over the course of the last two years. It goes without saying that this series is only going to grow even bigger. Among all the new generation mangas, Kagurabachi is easily one of the biggest ones, next to Ichi the Witch, which is another brilliant new gen series that is sure to blow up in the coming years.

Kagurabachi Part 1 Is Officially Over With Chapter 112

kagurabachi part 2 begins

Earlier this week, Kagurabachi chapter 112 came out, and with it, the conclusion to one of the most exciting arcs in the story was delivered. What was even more shocking was that Kagurabachi officially wrapped up its first part here. With 112 chapters wrapping up the first part, it can be said that the series might already be at the midpoint.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to many fans, given that more and more manga are now looking at the very short runs. For instance, Demon Slayer only ran for 205 chapters. Meanwhile, the likes of Jujutsu Kaisen, which ended only over a year ago, concluded the story with 271 chapters. My Hero Academia was somewhat of an outlier, given that it had a total of 431 chapters. Sakamoto Days is also looking to end its run in the 200s, and it appears to be a trend for the newer generation Shonen manga to end around this number. Kagurabachi already has 112 chapters in, and as such, it makes perfect sense for the series to finish its first part here.

The Excitement For Kagurabachi Part 2 Grows

It appears that there is not going to be any wait for Kagurabachi Part 2 to begin. The story is going to dive straight into part 2 in the next issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, and Takeru Hokazono's work is certainly going to be just as exciting, if not even more, moving forward.

As to how part 2 will differ from the first part, fans can only find out once the story actually resumes, but it is sure to be a lot more intense, with even stronger enemies, as well as a stronger main cast. If a typical shonen logic is followed here, then Part 2 should see Chihiro stronger than ever before, with a will that was forged even stronger through all the battles that he took part in. Fans absolutely cannot wait to dive into Kagurabachi Part 2, which is set to begin later this week.
