Bringing back old characters is nothing new for the Jurassic Park  franchise. Every installment of the series so far has seen the return of some character from the original movie, with the most recent example being Jeff Goldblum's appearance as Dr. Ian Malcom in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Now, it's been revealed that Jurassic World: Dominion,  the sequel to the aforementioned 2018 movie, will see the return of another character from the original movie, Lewis Dodgson, but this time he'll be played by another actor.

The news comes from Collider, who is reporting that the character, who was originally played by Cameron Thor in the original movie, will now be played by Campbell Scott. More recently, Scott played Peter Parker's father Richard Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man  film franchise.

According to Collider, Dodgson is now the CEO of Biosyn Genetics, a corporation that has, so far, never been officially named within the Jurassic Park  films, although fans of the original novel may recognize that name as the company Dodgson works for. While Collider couldn't confirm if Dodgson would be the main villain of the new movie, it seems likely given the character's history. He's only made one appearance in the films and he was last seen handing an embryo storage container to Nedry.

While the character's recasting might be a bit disappointing at first glance for continuity's sake, it's quite understandable why the original actor won't be coming back for the role. Cameron Thor was sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in 2016.

Despite this, other actors and actresses from the past films are set to make their return in the new sequel when it releases (at least in theaters that aren't run by AMC, that is), including Sam Neil, Laura Dern, and more.

Jurassic Park: Dominion  is set to release on June 11, 2021.
