Yuji Itadori is quite easily one of the most skilled sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen. In the original story, fans saw him rise from being a boy with tremendous physical capabilities to a sorcerer who mastered nearly all arts of jujutsu sorcery, especially in the battle against Sukuna. One of the most important weapons in Yuji's arsenal is the ability to hit the Black Flash. Although in the original JJK's story, Yuji was not able to hit the Black Flash at will, it seems that he has made great strides in this department and taken the skill to an entirely new level.
In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which is set 68 years after the conclusion of the original story, Yuji Itadori has truly managed to master the Black Flash and he can seemingly bring it out at will, making him the most dangerous sorcerer to ever exist.
This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
What Is A Black Flash In Jujutsu Kaisen?
A Space Distortion Due To The Precise Cursed Energy Control
To first understand how Yuji was able to learn to hit Black Flash at will, one needs to know what a Black Flash really is. To put it simply, a Black Flash is nothing more than an enhanced physical hit. However, this isn't just a normal hit that's only slightly stronger. Instead, a Black Flash is a physical distortion in space that occurs when cursed energy is applied to a hit one millionth of a second after it lands. This creates some sort of distortion in space, and the overall power of the hit multiplies greatly. In fact, it has been stated in the main story that Black Flashes amplify the normal strength of a hit to the power of 2.5, and that is truly the essence of this ability.

Jujutsu Kaisen: How Yuji Itadori Surpassed Sukuna, Explained
Sukuna was a powerful sorcerer, but he is no longer the strongest in JJK.
While Black Flashes are tremendously overpowered, as is quite clear from their various showings in Jujutsu Kaisen, fans also need to keep in mind that no sorcerer in history has been able to hit them at will. There are multiple reasons as to why that is the case:
- A black flash requires a tremendous amount of concentration, and even a person's physical condition comes into play when making use of this technique.
- To truly utilize a Black Flash properly, an individual must be blessed with the sparks of black, which might seem almost random at times.
- According to Gojo, Black Flashes are so random that even things like temperature and humidity can play a huge role in whether one can land this power or not.
All in all, it comes down to cursed energy levels and concentration, and because of all the factors mentioned, no one can truly utilize them at will, with the exception of Yuji Itadori, as was implied in JJK Modulo 20.
How Yuji Itadori Mastered The Black Flash
Yuji Has Years Of Fighting Experience in Modulo
Yuji Itadori has hit most Black Flashes in Jujutsu Kaisen, and in the battle against Ryomen Sukuna, he actually managed to land more than eight, which was truly staggering for the fans to see. The author of the story also stated on multiple occasions that Yuji was actually blessed with the sparks of black, which might be one of the reasons why he found hitting them so easy. Of course, then one also has to take into consideration the fact that Yuji is a partial curse due to his body's consistency, thanks to Kenjaku.
You're pretty strong. You won't die from this. — Yuji Itadori, JJK Modulo 20
Given that Yuji has remained at the peak of his powers for so many years, it makes sense as to why he was the first one to master how to hit Black Flashes at will. This was quite clearly evident in JJK Modulo Chapter 20, where Yuji Itadori hit one of the Simurians with this powerful ability, showcasing that he can bring it out at will.
As to why Yuji was the one to gain this skill, one only needs to look at his limitless potential. Yuji was a special being birthed by Kenjaku, which already made him unique. Sukuna even compared his overall physical capabilities to Maki's, stating that Maki was slightly superior to him in this regard. At the same time, he had Sukuna's cursed technique engraved onto him, and Uraume stated that he had potential equal to that of Ryomen Sukuna. On top of all that, fans also need to keep in mind that Yuji Itadori was given the power of Blood Manipulation as well after he consumed the Death Painting's 4-9.
Given all the abilities he had up his sleeve and the amount of time he stayed at the peak of his powers due to his unaging body, it makes sense as to why Yuji was able to train relentlessly hard and become the first sorcerer to be able to do all this without effort.
Yuji Can Hit Black Flashes At Will By Adulthood
By the time of JJK Modulo, it can be said that Yuji Itadori can bring out the power of Black Flash at will. The true nature of how he can do this is not known, but fans need to understand the fact that Yuji's knowledge of Jujutsu sorcery has got to a point where he knows most of its secrets, and that is precisely why he can bring out the Sparks of Black at will.
Old warriors don't die. They just fade away from existence. — Yuji Itadori
Curiously enough, Gojo Satoru implied that he could have mastered the power of Black Flash, but the nature of his fighting style prevents him from doing so. Gojo inherently ends his fight rather quickly with the power of the Limitless, and that prevents him from truly learning how to utilize Black Flashes at will.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Officially Gives Yuji His Biggest Power Up
Yuji has returned and is stronger than ever before with his newest power-up in JJK Modulo.
At the same time, it must be remembered that to chain Black Flashes, one has to land multiple hits. That would require a very powerful opponent for Gojo to try his luck against, but Gojo is so strong that a single Black Flash from him ends most enemies. He never really got a chance to try out his luck against a mighty enemy. Against Sukuna, Gojo did manage to chain four Black Flashes before landing his Hollow Purple, but that was moments before he died, and he truly couldn't master the art due to that.
