Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most brilliant modern shonen series that fans have enjoyed thoroughly over the last few years. This series set a new standard when it comes to battle shonen, delivering extremely high-level fights and centering them around a very well-written power system. At the same time, it can also be said that Gege Akutami created one of the best villains in shonen itself, and that is Ryomen Sukuna.

2026's biggest anime finally has a release date, and fans are hyped.
Fans know Sukuna to be one of the most powerful villains to have ever existed, and even after his death, he continues to be remembered as an absolute calamity. Now, years after his death in the JJK series, it seems that Gege has introduced yet another powerful villain who could perhaps be on the same level as Sukuna, and that is none other than Dabura, the King of the Simurians who was recently introduced in the story.
Dabura Is The Perfect Replacement For Ryomen Sukuna In JJK Modulo
Gege Akutami is quite unique when it comes to writing stories. As seen with JJK, he likes to introduce the villain of the stories at the very beginning and not reveal them later down the line. He did the same thing with JJK 0, where Geto was established as the main villain quite early on. In JJK itself, both Sukuna and Kenjaku were revealed to the fans quite early on.
How will you ever be able to face the world again? You had your body stolen by me and your sister was killed... And you refused to help, and oh right! This boy you saved slaughtered lots of people. As such, it is no surprise to know that in Modulo, Gege established Dabura quite early on as well. To be clear, Dabura is not a typical villain. He is not like Sukuna, who just goes around killing people for the sake of it. Dabura is leading the Simurians because he wants to establish a perfect home for them where they can coexist in peace with their neighbors. His reasons are more complex than Sukuna and so is his character.
Most of all, however, what makes him the perfect replacement for Ryomen Sukuna is the fact that he possesses tremendous strength. It was stated in the story that his power is so great that he cannot even be measured by the standard Jujutsu system.
In other words, he breaks the barrier of Special Grade as well. On top of that, it has also been established quite clearly that he is a walking calamity, and once again, that makes him incredibly special.
Dabura Was Called A Walking Calamity
As far as strength goes, Dabura is almost impossible for anyone to kill right now other than Yuji Itadori. Dabura's powers were briefly shown to the fans in JJK Modulo Chapter 13, and it is safe to say that he made an impression worthy of someone on Sukuna's level.
In the blink of an eye, he was able to tear the arm of a Grade 1 sorcerer. Even Usami, who was a very impressive cursed speech user, could not stand up to him in combat, and he could have essentially slaughtered all 13 Sorcerers there, had it not been for Usami's courage.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Has Officially Revealed The Power Level Of The Alien King
The Alien King is powerful, and Gege just revealed his power level in JJK Modulo.
His overall power level is absolutely incredible and while his cursed technique is not clear yet, what fans can say for sure is that he is a monster on the same level as Sukuna, if not potentially even stronger.
The fact is that Japan recognizes that only Yuji Itadori can go up against him in combat. This is another sign of the fact that he is Sukuna's perfect replacement.
Dabura Could Be Stronger Than Ryomen Sukuna And Gojo Satoru
For now, it remains unclear whether Dabura is stronger than Sukuna or not. At the very least, it can be said that Dabura is as strong as Sukuna and Gojo. However, surpassing the two is a different thing altogether. At the very least, a case can be made for Dabura surpassing Sukuna in power.
Even when performing curse gestures, his hands remain unfettered, and even when chanting his curse, his heart and lungs remain unburdened. Sukuna's extra arms and hands provide an immense advantage over other sorcerers. His physical form may be greatly deformed, but that doesn't impede him in any way. — Narrator on Ryomen Sukuna
Recently in the story, Gege Akutami set up Yuji Itadori's death at the hands of Dabura. If this death does come to pass, then it can be said that Dabura truly does surpass Sukuna in terms of power. Given that Yuji, at the moment, should be stronger than Sukuna in his prime, if Dabura does go on to kill him, that would make him the undisputed strongest.
On the other hand, another thing that fans need to consider is that Dabura might not know Reverse Cursed Technique on the same level as Gojo and Sukuna. If he did, he could perhaps have saved Cross very easily.
The fact that he didn't do that suggests that the Simurians, in general, are not as good at Reverse Cursed Technique in combat, and that is a big difference maker in high-level battles. Hopefully, Gege Akutami will reveal the true strength of Dabura soon enough.
Jujutsu Kaisen's sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. The series is set 68 years into the future, after the events of Shinjuku Showdown. The main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo are Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 14 will be released on December 7, 2025.
