Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which is the sequel spin-off of the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami, has been enjoying quite a successful run so far. The manga is loved by fans all over the world, and its first volume did extremely impressive numbers in Japan. In fact, the manga was even set for a reprint because of its incredible popularity. Much of the popularity of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo comes from the fact that Gege is a brilliant storyteller. While most fans expected the sequel to be rather underwhelming, especially upon hearing that aliens are going to be involved in it, Gege surprised everyone by writing an incredibly compelling story.
Unfortunately, the story is now ending, and based on the recent chapters, it appears that Gege Akutami is dropping the ball once again. The recent developments in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo are incredibly rushed, and at the same time, the conclusion feels a bit too chaotic. As was the case with the original manga, Gege Akutami seems to have missed with his ending of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Had The Perfect Start
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo enjoyed quite a successful start, and that does not come as a surprise to any fan. Gege Akutami is a brilliant writer, and some of his qualities that were shown in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo took the entire world by surprise, because no one expected him to be a writer capable of intricate world-building and delving into complex themes. Gege Akutami surprised everyone, even his doubters, with the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Despite the series not having the cast of beloved characters from the original story, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is still extremely popular, and that just goes to show how talented a writer Gege Akutami truly is.
Maru, you truly are a fool of a brother. To think that you lost control so easily! — Cross to Maru, JJK Modulo Chapter 5
Unfortunately, it was always going to be a short run, which means that Gege was in a race against time to deliver a proper conclusion to the story. When JJK Modulo was initially announced, Gege made it clear that this manga was going to run for around three volumes. While fans had hoped that this run would extend beyond that, it appears that the series is truly coming to a close with the next two chapters. As such, the many big battles that were previously established in the Modulo manga have now already wrapped up, which is incredibly disappointing for many fans. While the story had a near-perfect start and a middle point that can be said to be the peak of the entirety of the Jujutsu Kaisen series, the conclusion is where it starts to fall apart, which is truly disappointing to the fans.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo's Final Battle Was Completely Ruined By Gege
One of the biggest parts of JJK Modulo that Gege Akutami failed to deliver a proper conclusion to was the battle between Dabura and Mahoraga. Over the course of the last few chapters, these two fighters were going head-to-head with each other, delivering an absolutely incredible battle to the fans. As Mahoraga continued his adaptation process, Dabura continued to evolve in the midst of battle. Fans saw him go from being a warrior with just his cursed technique, to developing the powers of reverse cursed technique and, later down the line, even cursed technique reversal.
I'm sorry Dura. I interrupted your duel. As a warrior, I feel ashamed. — Maru, JJK Modulo Chapter 23
Dabura even came up with powers such as Domain Expansion and would have continued to evolve even further in the story had he continued fighting against Mahoraga. At that point, it was expected that the battle would at least finish. However, in JJK Modulo's recent chapter, it became quite clear that Gege Akutami completely skipped over the conclusion of the fight. Instead of Dabura finishing off Mahoraga, he was sent back to Simuria as his duel was interrupted by Maru utilizing his cursed technique.

Dabura somehow got access to the black rope, thanks to Maru's cursed technique, and then headed off back to Simuria with his sister. While it is true that to save Yuka, Dabura had to leave the range of the technique, this could have been handled much better by Gege Akutami.

The Resolution To Cursed Energy Removal Was Rushed
On top of Dabura being removed from the story in a rather unsatisfying manner, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo also delivered an unsatisfying conclusion to the whole cursed energy debacle. As stated by Maru himself, he wanted to eliminate the cursed spirits' existence forever. To do that, Maru needed to either erase cursed energy completely from humans, or give all humans cursed energy, in which case they would then learn to optimize it, preventing the birth of cursed spirits.
Utilizing the technique of Mahito, the Mul from Naunax that Dura collected, and Yuta's ring, doing such an impossible thing suddenly became possible. However, as was confirmed by Yuji Itadori in the previous chapter, cursed energy cannot truly be wiped out completely. Even if the vast majority of the cursed energy is removed from humans, cursed spirits will still continue to be born both in Japan and overseas because of the traces of energy that humans will inevitably continue to leak out due to their nature. It appeared that Gege wrote himself into a corner with this decision, meaning that in order to harmonize the humans and the Simurians, nothing could truly be done.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Receives A Disappointing Update For Part 2
JJK season 3 received a massive update that could lead to a massive downgrade in quality of Part 2.
Once again, Maru's curse technique proved to be the perfect plot device for this, as it completely changed the color of the souls of the cursed spirits and reduced the cursed energy to as much as possible within the future generation of Simurians and humans. With that, the birth of cursed spirits was limited greatly, and given that they became separate from the Kalyans, the Simurians would not have any problems with it any longer.
Maru Saved Everyone At The End Of Modulo
Quite easily, the biggest disappointing development in the ending of JJK Modulo came when Maru utilized the power of Idle Transfiguration to heal just about everyone that was injured, be it Usami, who had been damaged greatly by Dabura, or Tsurugi, who was cut down by Maru, or Yuka, who had a brain tumor, or even Cross, who was shot in the chest around two months ago. Maru was able to save all of them.
To be clear, healing Yuka and Tsurugi should not have come as a surprise to any fan and was expected, if anything. Maru being able to heal Cross, who was proclaimed dead about two months ago, and Usamibwith his cursed technique is way too much of a fairy tale ending. Gege is known to not be scared to kill off characters, so this is a rather strange turn of events in his story.
When Will JJK Modulo End?
It appears that JJK Modulo has already received its fairy tale ending with Yuji Itadori setting out his own way to take care of any cursed spirits that emerge over the course of the next few years, and preparing for a contingency for the time when he officially ends up dying. More than that, all the main cast have now officially survived, with perfect harmony being established between the humans and the Simurians. Meanwhile, Dabura Karaba has gone back to Simuria, and it appears that the series is on the path to getting a happy conclusion. JJK Modulo will likely end within the next two chapters, which means that Chapter 25 could mark its end in Weekly Shonen Jump.
