Yuji and Sukuna were the focus of the story of Jujutsu Kaisen. These two iconic characters offered quite an interesting take on the theme of an ancient being trapped inside the body of a young hero, though this one never ended up with any sort of reconciliation. In fact, the two hated each other throughout the story.
With Sukuna being the most powerful sorcerer of all time, many thought that he would carry this title until the very end of the franchise in general, but Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo may have turned this whole thing on its head. So, in this article, let's go over who the stronger character is between Yuji and Sukuna.
6 Jujutsu Kaisen Characters Who Deserved Better Endings
Jujutsu Kaisen has shown the deaths of many beloved characters, but these few deserved much better endings than they got.
The Strongest At The End Of The Original Series Was Sukuna
The Strongest Sorcerer Of All Time
Although Jujutsu Kaisen spoke of many incredible themes and had very deep symbolism, one of the central tenets of the entire story was the philosophy of the strongest. The approach to this was literal and metaphorical, as it spoke of how those who enjoy the greatest power in the world interact with it.
The strongest characters in the entire series were Gojo and Sukuna, however, the way they approached their strength was completely different. Gojo faced intense isolation and loneliness because no one else could ever understand him, whereas Sukuna reveled in this isolation because he didn't need anyone to understand him. Where Gojo would rely on others, Sukuna would only rely on himself, and this battle of ideologies was vital for the ending of the series.
Is strength solitude? Or is the endless search for greater power simply a cross the strong must bear alone?
Ultimately, Sukuna proved to be the victor as he managed to take down the only person who could ever hope to challenge him. Due to his strength and self-reliance, Sukuna showed exactly why he got the epithet of the King of Curses and why he was considered to be the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer in history.
However, the end of the original series proved that, although he was stronger than Gojo, Sukuna's philosophy was the inferior one. Gojo always believed in fostering the strength of others and relying on others for help, which eventually led to the defeat of Sukuna by the hands of all the heroes together.

Modulo Yuji Is Even Stronger Than Sukuna Ever Was
The New Honored One
Although Sukuna was unequivocally the most powerful sorcerer by the end of the original series, the most probable thing is that Yuji at the current moment is the most powerful sorcerer of all time. At the end of his battle against Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji was shown to be starting to unlock many powerful new abilities.
Chief among these was his own version of Sukuna's Shrine, which allowed him to cut through massive pillars and other tough objects. On top of this, he could also use Blood Manipulation, unlocked his own Cursed Technique of damaging his target's soul, and unlocked his mysterious, but incredibly powerful, Domain Expansion. To top it all off, Yuji also gained unprecedented control over his Cursed Energy, which allowed him to hit a record eight Black Flashes in a row.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji Is Back, And He's Stronger Than Ever
Yuji's presence from Modulo has been notably missing, but Chapter 19 has finally seen him return to the setting.
Taking this into consideration, it can be seen that Yuji has had many decades to not only master all of these techniques, but also potentially add new ones to his arsenal. Admittedly, there aren't many scenes or showings of Yuji's powers in Modulo, but he is essentially spoken of as being the strongest of this time, effectively filling the same role that Gojo did decades ago.
In his first proper appearance in Modulo, Yuji performed the legendary Piercing Blood technique, which is the strongest application of Blood Manipulation that only the best users can use. However, Yuji's showing of this power eclipsed every other time it has been shown, offloading multiple streams of blood at once and controlling their strength enough to only damage his targets rather than pierce through their bodies.
He did this with very little apparent effort, when he even said that he only wanted to end the fighting between the humans and Simurians. However, the following scene was perhaps the most indicative of his insane strength, as he managed to hit his opponent with a Black Flash at will, confirming that he can use this power whenever he wants.
Black Flash requires the user to activate their Cursed Energy 0.000001 before a hit lands, which guarantees extra damage and a surge of Cursed Energy for themselves on top of this. This attack requires such intense and meticulous control of Cursed Energy that not even Sukuna and Gojo could hit Black Flashes at will.
The man chosen by the sparks of black!
At the very least, this confirms that Yuji's control over Cursed Energy is better than Sukuna's. However, the truly exceptional showing of his power came when the Cursed Spirits tried to leave Tokyo, prompting him to release a Dismantle so powerful that it destroyed multiple buildings and killed all those Curses in a single hit.
Many have likened this Dismantle to Sukuna's own World Cutting Slash, which is one of the most powerful attacks in the series. However, if this is the same move, Yuji's version is stronger since it doesn't need the Binding Vows and preconditions to be released, and if it isn't, then it just shows that Yuji's regular Dismantle is similar in scope and strength to Sukuna's World Cutting Slash, confirming him as the strongest sorcerer of all time.
