This article contains spoilers from JJK Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has continuously grown in terms of intensity, and right now, it is one of the most exciting manga that is running in Weekly Shonen Jump, and that goes without saying. Gege Akutami has only leveled up in terms of storytelling, and Modulo might be even better than the predecessor in some ways. In either case, JJK Modulo is currently featuring an absolutely intense battle between the new strongest, Dabura, and Yuka Okkotsu, the current user of the Ten Shadows technique.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Has Already Set Up The Death Of The Protagonist
JJK's protagonist is going to die, and fans are heartbroken.
In the midst of it all, a big debate is currently raging among the fans, and that is the fate of Megumi Fushiguro in JJK Modulo. Because Yuka has access to the Ten Shadows technique, many fans believe that Megumi is now officially dead, but there is more to Megumi's fate than just Yuka inheriting the Ten Shadows technique. Megumi's death has been set up in the story long before that, and it is highly likely that he has passed away already.
Megumi Fushiguro Might Be Dead In JJK Modulo Already
- Yuji's Loneliness Is Connected To Megumi's Disappearance
- Megumi Fushiguro Wasn't Sought Out During The Search For Yuji Itadori
Megumi Fushiguro being dead in JJK Modulo is the most likely outcome at this point in time. For starters, Megumi has not appeared in Modulo even once. Fans have already seen Nobara Kugisaki appear in JJK Modulo, and this was when Japan was fiercely looking for Yuji Itadori.
At present, Yuji Itadori has two cursed techniques. Integration of Death Paintings 4 to 9 engraved Blood Manipulation on him. And the awakened state gained from the Black Flash has drawn out Malevolent Shrine, which was engraved on him as Ryomen Sukuna's fully fleshed curse. — Narrator on Yuji Itadori
It appeared that Nobara and Yuji had drifted away over the years, so much so that Nobara referred to Yuji by his last name, suggesting that they were not close anymore. The last time Nobara saw Yuji was during Hana's funeral, at which time, Yuji clearly stated that he would not be attending any more funerals as he was in too much pain. Yuji cut all contact with his friends and has vanished ever since.
If Megumi Fushiguro were truly alive, then he would have been consulted at this critical time. In fact, if Megumi were alive, he might as well have been Japan's best bet against Dabura, given that he has access to the Ten Shadows as well, and even if he were dying, he could still access Mahoraga and possibly perform better against Dabura, despite his old age, than Yuka Okkotsu.
Yuji's Disappearance Hints At Megumi's Death
Most importantly, however, fans must note that Yuji Itadori's absence is the biggest clue to Megumi's death. Yuji has cut all contact with those around him. This is because he is in too much pain and he doesn't want to see his loved ones pass away one after another. Of course, fans know that Maki and Yuta Okkotsu have died, which is sure to have caused Yuji immense pain. However, none of them was actually Yuji's best friend.
I think it was during the Edo period...or maybe Keicho? I forget, but the heads of the respective households killed each other in a fight before the aristocracy. Back then, the leaders were a Limitless Cursed Technique user with the Six Eyes like me for the Gojo Family, and a Ten Shadows technique user like Megumi for the Zenin Family. You get what I'm trying to say? — Gojo Satoru to Megumi Fushiguro
Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Gege Akutami Finally Reveals A New Special Grade Sorcerer
A New Special Grade Sorcerer has officially been revealed. His power might trump that of any other sorcerer before him in JJK Modulo.
In the main JJK story, Yuji clearly states that Megumi is his best friend, and he even says to Megumi that it would be way too lonely without him. Yuji sheds tears at the idea of not having Megumi around. That alone is proof enough that Megumi has indeed passed away.
It must also be noted that Hana’s was the last funeral that Yuji attended, but Gege clearly set up Hana and Megumi ending up together at the end of JJK. If Hana's funeral was the last one, then it is likely that Megumi's funeral happened even before that. Then, Yuta and Maki's funeral followed, and eventually, Hana died, which was the last straw for Yuji Itadori.
If Yuji Itadori lost Megumi, then he most likely lost his soulmate and, in other words, Yuji would be emotionally shattered. It would then make sense why he is behaving the way he is right now.
Yuka Currently Has Access To The Ten Shadows Technique
Of course, Yuka Okkotsu's cursed technique also comes into play here. As most fans have noticed already, Yuka has the same technique as Megumi Fushiguro. Technically, Yuka having 10 Shadows doesn't confirm to the fans that Megumi is dead. Two people can have the same cursed technique in the JJK world. However, a technique that grants access to Mahoraga should be strictly restricted to only one user.
Based on what has been stated in the story so far, it can be said that there can be multiple users of the same cursed technique in JJK, but Blood Manipulation had multiple users, as did Projection Sorcery, another Zenin technique. However, with Mahoraga, things get a bit more complicated. Such a powerful technique cannot, and should not, have multiple users, because it is essentially on par with the combo of limitless and Six Eyes itself.
More than that, however, as stated earlier in the story, if Megumi truly was alive, then even in his very old age, he could have summoned Mahoraga and unleashed it on Dabura. An old and dying person would be a better sacrifice than Yuka, who still had three months left to live.
As sad as it is, the death of Megumi Fushiguro is practically a given at this point. Megumi dying before Yuka Okkotsu isn't a given, since two users of the same technique can certainly exist, but his death most likely did happen as Yuji is alone and Yuka was used against Mahoraga in his stead.
Megumi fans who were holding on to hope, wanting to see their beloved one more time in the series, will be very disappointed to know that he'll probably never come back again. Still, he will always be remembered as a brillaint character and JJK'S finest.
