Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen is only getting more exciting with each passing chapter and fans are absolutely in love with the way the plot has progressed as of late. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo currently has only 9 chapters, but it is already quite clear that it's shaping up to be a brilliant story.

Fans, including the ones who were critical of Gege Akutami’s writing, can't help but give the author his flowers. He has done a phenomenal job at writing Modulo so far, and he even introduced one of Jujutsu Kaisen's best characters recently in Dura, one of the Rumelians from Simuria. Shaped by hope, optimism, and tragedy, Dura’s character has blown the fans away, and it is quite clear to see that Gege Akutami has written one of the best characters in the franchise in him. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 9 officially concluded the story of Dura, but the character is so intriguing that he'll continue to influence the plot of the story beyond his death. Everything that happens in the story from here on out will be shaped by how Dura lived, and for Gege to have shaped such an important character in two mere chapters just goes to show his skill as a mangaka.

Dura isn't a main character in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo and he most certainly didn't appear at the beginning. Although both Cross and Maru are connected to Dura, his role in the story is very different from that of the two brothers. Dura was first introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 8 in Cross’s flashback, and it was quite clear to see that he is the one who shaped them to be the way they are.

Dura belonged to the Rumelians of Simuria, and was known to be the strongest of the lot. After losing a war to the Deskunte, most of their previous land was taken over and they were pushed into a land without any future. Where others saw a dead end, Dura saw a new future. Dura built a canal that eventually led to trade routes being created and the land being irrigated, giving a boost to the new home of the Rumelians.

But, eventually, his voice fell on deaf ears as he fell victim to the religious and cultural war between the tribes.

Dura's end was tragic, as he ended up falling to his best friend, Dabura, known to be one of the strongest of the Deskunte. But, Dabura now carries his will and together with the Rumelians, he has left Simuria in search of a place where they can truly belong and coexist with their new neighbors in peace.

Dura is dead in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, but his role is far from over. Dura shaped both Maru and Cross. By giving them a dream for the future, Dura has played a significant role in the overarching plot of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. His legacy will be upheld by Maru, Cross, and even Dabura. Above all, Dura’s work towards a better future will save the Rumelian race as they continue to search for the perfect neighbors and live a peaceful life.
Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the biggest shonen series in the world. The manga, which ended in late 2024, can be read online for free. It is available to access on Manga Plus, where this series used to be made available weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen currently has a sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 10 will be released on November 9, 2025.
