Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is the sequel series for Gege Akutami's magnum opus, Jujutsu Kaisen. Set 68 years after the conclusion of the Shinjuku Shodown arc of the original JJK series, Modulo sees the focus being thrown on a completely new cast of characters instead of the likes of Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kogisaki.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo puts the focus on Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki. Furthermore, the alien race of Simurians is introduced into the plot, and among them are the other two main characters of the series, Maru and Cross. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is an incredibly exciting series, and it goes without saying that Gege wrote a phenomenal story in it. But, as is the case with the vast majority of the stories, it certainly did have its own failings. As a sequel, JJK Modulo hammered home the vast majority of the themes it covered and the plot points it showcased, but it failed to deliver a solid conclusion on quite a few of them.
4 Failed To Give A Conclusion To Dabura Vs Mahoraga
The Biggest Battle Left Unresolved
One of the biggest ways in which JJK Modulo failed towards the end was delivering a proper sequel to the biggest battle of the entire series, that is, Mahoraga versus Dabura. To decide the fate of humanity itself, a duel was set to take place between Yuka Okkotsu and Dabura Karaba. Yuka immediately made use of her 10 Shadows Technique to call upon the Divine General Mahoraga and unleashed him on Dabura.
Their duel was quite exciting, and throughout it, readers were treated to a brilliant display of tenacity and adaptation from Mahoraga, as well as adaptability and a grueling work ethic from Dabura. The latter managed to create new ways to utilise his cursed technique to beat Mahoraga's adaptation and even learned things such as Reverse Cursed Technique. On top of that, he also mastered Cursed Technique Reversal and came up with a Domain Expansion. All this eventually went to waste because their duel was never completed. Dabura was taken out of the battle by Maru utilizing his cursed technique and sent back to Simuria along with his sister, never to be seen again. This is one of the most dissatisfying conclusions that any fight has ever received in JJK, and it is a sad ending for the character of Dabura as well.
Jujutsu Kaisen 3 Modulo Sequel: Everything You Need To Know
Jujutsu Kaisen 3 Modulo is coming out this week, and fans are hyped.
3 Failed To Give Yuji Itadori A Good Role
Yuji Only Served As A Plot Device For Maru's Technique
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo reintroduced Yuji Itadori towards the end of the story. Immediately after his arrival, it became clear that he intended to bring peace to the warring races of humans and Simurians. Yuji did this by coming into contact with Maru and crafting a way to completely end Cursed Spirits. While this plot point got a lot of build-up, it did not deliver in the end. Yuji's decision-making led to Cursed Energy being stripped from both future Simurians and humans, leaving them with only traces of these powers. Meanwhile, the birth of the Cursed Spirits was prevented to the degree that only a handful would be born a year.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Receives A Disappointing Update For Part 2
JJK season 3 received a massive update that could lead to a massive downgrade in quality of Part 2.
For Yuji Itadori himself, the entire point was to serve as a plot device for Maru to accomplish all this. Once Yuji gave Maru the information he needed, he was on his way. What's worse, Yuji Itadori was revealed to have completely changed as an adult. While changes in characters are normal, Yuji cut off his friends and just about everyone else in society completely. He also became somewhat of a cynic and completely misinterpreted Gojo's words to him, refusing to even protect the next generation. Most importantly, fans expected Yuji Itadori to fight against Dabura Karaba towards the end of the Modulo series, but unfortunately, this fight never materialized either. Yuji only showed his powers briefly, and most readers were left disappointed at what little he offered in this story.

2 Couldn't Flesh Out All Events It Set Up
Too Rushed Of A Conclusion
The biggest failure of JJK Modulo is the fact that it was not able to deliver a proper conclusion to the vast majority of the plot points it set up due to its short length. While Modulo was well written, the ending felt tremendously rushed. Fights were cut short and plot points were completely skipped over. For instance, Dabura and Mahoraga's battle could have been given a couple more chapters and elaborated upon much better, even if it were to be interrupted later down the line. Similarly, Dabura getting the Black Rope could have been its own stand-alone chapter with much more emotional impact.
Yuji Itadori's arrival on the battlefield could have been fleshed out a lot more as well. Maru saving the lives of Usami, Yuka, and Tsurugi, along with his own brother Cross, could have taken a couple of chapters too. Most importantly, the union between humans and Simurians would have felt way more emphatic had Gege given more time to this plot point and allowed fans to absorb it. In the end, all this was rushed due to the broken nature of Maru's cursed technique. It ended up becoming the biggest plot device for the author to do just about whatever he wanted in whichever way he wanted. That was the biggest shortcoming of JJK Modulo, which was otherwise an absolutely brilliant series.
1 Too Many Death Fakeouts
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Didn't Deliver On Deaths
Another thing that JJK Modulo struggled with was death fakeouts. Usually, Gege Akutami is known to not be too scared to kill off characters. In the original story, he killed off Junpei almost immediately, when fans thought he was going to be a main character. Similarly, Nanami, one of the most important characters, was killed off early on, and Gojo Satoru also met a swift end towards the end of the series. As such, Gege Akutami has never been too afraid to kill off his main characters.
However, in JJK Modulo, for some reason, Gege hesitated to kill off characters despite setting up their deaths properly. Cross, Maru's own brother, was shot through the chest, and despite utilizing the power of the Reverse Cursed Technique, it was made clear that he would not be saved. Two months had passed since Cross's shooting, and somehow, Maru was able to save him with the power of Idle Transfiguration. By all means, Cross should not have survived this series.
Similarly, Yuka was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and on top of that, her condition had worsened tremendously due to her Binding Vow. Yet, Maru was once again able to save her with the power of Idle Transfiguration that he obtained from Mahito. Tsurugi was dealt a deadly blow, and this time as well, Idle Transfiguration came to the rescue and saved his life. Meanwhile, Usami suffered tremendous damage during his confrontation with Dabura, and he too was saved by Maru. It appeared as if Maru's technique could do just about anything, and all the tension that Gege had built up in the story with the impending doom immediately vanished with a stroke of a pen.
To be clear, Yuka and Tsurugi's survival was important for the plot, and it makes sense for them to survive. However, Cross being nearly dead for two months, as well as Usami suffering from the same fate, yet miraculously being brought back at the end, felt too cheap. Had Gege stuck to his old method and killed off a couple of characters, the ending would have been way more emphatic.
