Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is knocking it out of the park week in week out, and fans absolutely cannot believe the level of quality that Gege is delivering in this story. Most manga sequels fail to live up to the high expectations set by the original series, and it is often a daunting task to get even remotely close to the quality of the original series, but Gege Akutami has done just that with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and it is quite clear for all fans to see.
Gege Akutami Confirms Yuji Itadori's Next Big Battle In The Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel
Yuji has a huge battle coming up against one of his worst enemies in JJK Modulo.
Fans went into Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo wanting to know more about their favorite characters like Gojo Satoru, Yuji Itadori, Maki Zenin, and Yuta, among others, but now, it is quite clear to see that this series doesn't even need that. In fact, these characters being tied to the story is just the cherry on top. Still, Gege Akutami hasn't forgotten the old Jujutsu Kaisen characters at all. If anything, Gege has been slowly introducing old characters in the story, and now, it seems that he has also confirmed the status of Yuji Itadori, the previous protagonist of the story, in Modulo, 68 years after the end of the Shinjuku Showdown battle.

Yuji Itadori is one of the biggest and most important characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe and all fans are well aware of that. After all, he's the one who started it all for Gege Akutami. Yuji is an absolutely brilliant character, and while his story wrapped up in the original JJK series, fans haven't forgotten about him just yet.

All sequel series raise the intrigue of the fans, making them wonder what happened to their beloved characters from the original story. JJK Modulo is no different, and fans who wanted to know Yuji Itadori's status now have an answer. Based on the recent developments in JJK Modulo, it can now be confirmed that Yuji Itadori is, in fact, still alive in the story.
Make Way For Gojo Satoru's True Heir In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

This was confirmed in JJK Modulo Chapter 7, when fans saw an old villain, Mahito, once again. For those who do not remember, Mahito is currently in between life and death, almost as if he's in limbo. Those who die end up meeting him, just as Sukuna did after he died in Shinjuku. Mahito likely won't be able to pass on properly until he meets Yuji Itadori again. When Tsurugi got severely injured, he almost saw Mahito, and the latter was disappointed to know that he wasn't the man that he'd been waiting for. As fans know already, Mahito is waiting for Yuji Itadori, and if he hasn't met Yuji yet, that can only mean Yuji isn't dead just yet.

Yuji Itadori Might Die In JJK Modulo
His Meeting Vs Mahito Could Happen
Based on how things are going, it seems that Gege Akutami is setting up a meeting between Mahito and Yuji Itadori. This means Yuji Itadori will likely get a role to play in the upcoming story, and that in turn opens up the possibility of Yuji Itadori dying in the manga. Yuji must be quite old right now, and he most certainly can't stay alive for too long. At some point, Yuji will die, just as Yuta Okkotsu and Maki did. It is entirely possible that Gege Akutami will reveal that very moment to the fans instead of glossing over it. When Yuji does die, Gege will give the fans the much-awaited reunion of Yuji Itadori and Mahito.
Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the biggest shonen series in the world. The manga, which ended in late 2024, can be read online for free. It is available to access on Manga Plus, where this series used to be made available weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen currently has a sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 9 will be released on November 2, 2025.
