Fans of the Jujutsu Kaisen series were shocked to learn the breaking news concerning their favorite mangaka, Gege Akutami. Indeed, it was just revealed that Gege Akutami is making a new manga, and it is starting very soon, as early as next week. This manga is known as Mojurō, and while not much is known about this series so far, fans are hyped.

As mentioned already, Gege Akutami, who wrote and illustrated Jujutsu Kaisen, is coming back to Weekly Shonen Jump, but not for Jujutsu Kaisen. Instead, Gege is creating a brand-new manga, with the title of Mojurō. This manga doesn’t have an official English translation name yet, so for now, that's what it's being called.
One shocking and maybe disappointing piece of news, however, is that, while Gege is indeed writing this new story, he isn’t illustrating it. The illustrator of this manga is Yuji Iwasaki. Fans might know Iwasaki from Cypher Academy. Fans even got a new look at this manga, showcasing one of its characters, and it looks very promising.
This new manga is dropping its first chapter in the next issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, which is Issue #41. It’s unknown how many chapters this manga will have, but it’s reported to be a short series. Fans should expect about 15-20 chapters at the very least, and that certainly is a lot of content to look forward to.

Will Gege Ever Return To Jujutsu Kaisen?
A Jujutsu Kaisen Return Is Highly Unlikely
Gege’s return to writing manga is very promising for the fans, and of course, it is making them wonder if he will ever come back to Jujutsu Kaisen. While nobody knows what the future holds, it’s unlikely that Gege will ever dabble again in Jujutsu Kaisen, at least not with something as big as a sequel or prequel for it.
Gege has, after all, a lot to focus on right now with his new series, even though it’s a short one. It still takes a lot of time to create and write a good story that will keep fans interested. For now, fans are eagerly waiting for Mojuro to begin. The series will drop its first chapter officially on Manga Plus on September 6, 2025. Fans can read it for free.
Meanwhile, Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended in late 2024, and it can be read online. It is available to access on Manga Plus, where this series used to be serialized weekly. When it comes to anime, there are currently two anime seasons, with fans eagerly waiting for the 3rd one. These two seasons for now can be found on Crunchyroll.
