From the first episode, it has been clear that Itadori Yuji is the main protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen. At the time, it felt that Itadori Yuji was shoehorned into the world of curses, but over time, that decision has felt more normal. As Sukuna's vessel, Itadori has a ton of responsibility on his shoulders. He has to remain resolute at all times. Otherwise, Sukuna could take over, and that would be the end for him.

Yuta Okkotsu Is The Original Protagonist Of Jujutsu Kaisen

Towards the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, fans saw the familiar face of Yuta Okkotsu, who returned to punish Itadori Yuji. The potential matchup between the characters is nothing short of phenomenal, as they're, in a way, the two protagonists of Jujutsu Kaisen. Itadori Yuji is the lead of the current story, but Yuta Okkotsu was the one who was at the center of attention in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which is based on the one-shot of the same name.
So, in a sense, Yuta Okkotsu can be considered the real protagonist of the story. Obviously, it isn't a dig at Itadori, nor does it mean he is irrelevant. It simply implies that Yuta was in Gege Akutami's plans before, and the author could have turned him into the main protagonist of the story as well.
Yuta And Itadori Will Come Face-to-face In JJK Season 3
As previously stated, Yuta made his full debut in JJK Season 2. He was ordered to get rid of Itadori. Even though both of them are students at the same school, it doesn't seem that the special grade sorcerer will be going easy on Itadori. This is concerning, especially because Itadori is no longer protected by Gojo Satoru, who, as fans know, was sealed away by Kejaku. The ancient sorcerer laid out an immaculate plan to exhaust Gojo Satoru and then seal him away using a special artifact.
Kenjaku knew that by removing Gojo Satoru from the picture, he could exercise more freedom. After all, Gojo Satoru is the strongest sorcerer in the world and could easily have beaten Kenjaku in a 1v1. So, the latter decided to seal him away. With Gojo Satoru being rendered useless, not only will Kejaku be able to move freely, but the top brass at Jujutsu High will also be able to carry out their will, which includes getting rid of Itadori Yuji. Needless to say, Itadori won't stand idly by while Yuta tries to kill him, so it should make for an exciting fight.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Will Be The Best One To Date
The Third Season Of JJK Will Change The Anime Industry
Itadori vs. Yuta will obviously be one of the biggest highlights of JJK Season 3, but there are plenty of other things for fans to get excited about. Firstly, it has been confirmed that the new season will cover the Culling Game arc, which means that a lot of powerful sorcerers, both new and old, will get the chance to show off their power. Jujutsu Kaisen is known for its enthralling fights, so fans can rest assured that the third season will have plenty of them.
JJK Season 3 Will Have A Lot Of New Characters
Secondly, a lot of new characters will make their debut in season 3. Some of them include: Naoya Zenin, Kinji Hakari, Hajime Kashimo, and Hiromi Higuruma. Bear in mind, these are just some of the characters debuting in the third season. There will be a lot more new faces that fans are going to see.
Finally, the quality of animation in JJK Season 3 will be something to marvel at. MAPPA is renowned for producing high-quality adaptations, and Jujutsu Kaisen's third one won't be an exception. The only gripe fans might have is that the new season will be divided into two parts. That's right. It has already been confirmed that only JJK Season 3 Part 1 will be released in January 2026. So, viewers will have to wait for months to see the second half of the season. Hopefully, MAPPA will share more information soon so that fans won't be anxious anymore.
