Gege Akutami is known for his action manga, Jujutsu Kaisen. In just a few years, Jujutsu Kaisen became one of the most dominant names in the Weekly Shonen Jump. In fact, it managed to outsell My Hero Academia, Blue Lock, and even One Piece. The manga ended in 2024, and since then Gege Akutami has been recovering. However, he gave fans a massive surprise on August 10, 2025.

During the One Piece Day, a collection of One Piece cards drawn by Gege Akutami was revealed. The JJK author worked on the cards of the Five Elders. Each card showed the transformed form of the Five Elders, and they looked rather menacing.

There was also a statement from Gege Akutami about his present health. It confirmed that the author suffered from serious complications after ending Jujutsu Kaisen. Eiichiro Oda recommended Gege Akutami go to another hospital, and since then, the latter's health has improved.

Aside from the new One Piece cards, there were two big announcements. One was linked to the second season of One Piece Live Action. After much speculation, it has been confirmed that the new season will release in 2026. The series has been renewed for a third season, which is hardly surprising given the success of the series. The second announcement was related to the One Piece Heroines' anime adaptation. It will cover the novel featuring some of the most popular female characters from One Piece.

As previously stated, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has already ended, but the anime is ongoing. So far, there have been two seasons, and a third is on the way. Unfortunately, a release date has not been announced yet, as the studio has likely not finished the production.

MAPPA has set incredibly high standards, and it takes a lot of hard work to replicate them. So, it's understandable why the studio is not rushing the production. However, Jujutsu Kaisen did tease several announcements for August 18, 2025, and they will likely be linked to the anime's release date.
