Sukuna, the King of Curses, was seen at the pinnacle of his powers in the final Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen. In this story arc, Sukuna fought against the likes of Gojo, and showcased what true Jujutsu sorcery was. At the same time, Sukuna then took his true form by resuming his incarnation and once again, displayed an incredible level of strength, skill, and resilience in battle.
One Piece Author Oda Congratulates JJK's Gege Akutami
Jujutsu Kaisen ended recently with chapter 271. Oda, One Piece's mangaka, had some words for JJK's mangaka Gege.
Clearly, Sukuna ended up losing the battle at the end. However, one absolutely cannot discredit what he did, and it is safe to say that he lived after the title of the King of Curses. Sukuna was truly a magnificent fighter and had reached a level that no other sorcerer apart from Gojo could have reached. Interestingly enough, the recent release of volume 27 of JJK had the author, Gege, drop quite a lot of exciting information on Sukuna's techniques, one of which is the airwalk that he was seen using in the story, especially in his fight against the sorcerers.

Sukuna was always described to be the strongest of individuals in the world of JJK. In fact, at the beginning of the story, Sukuna was painted as a legendary sorcerer in the past who no one could stand up to. He was an absolute menace, and dominated in the Heian era with his tremendous level of strength. Of course, Sukuna's unstoppable nature was such that his name propagated through history to the point where even the modern-era sorcerers knew of him. Fans heard of Sukuna properly through Gojo, although at this point, Gojo was fairly confident that he would defeat him if a direct battle were to happen.

It is safe to say that Gojo was certainly on the same level as Sukuna. When these two fought in Shinjuku, fans finally got to see the true level of Jujutsu Sorcery they possessed, and it is safe to say that they were neck and neck. At some points in this battle, Gojo was on top, while at others, they were evenly matched and their battle was certainly one that etched itself in history as one of the most exciting, if not the most exciting battles in all of manga.
In the end, Gojo lost his battle to Sukuna, and this was largely down to the fact that the King of Curses had access to not just his own cursed technique, but the 10 Shadows Technique as well. Specifically, the 10 Shadows Technique gave him access to Mahoraga, which helped Sukuna find the weakness of the Limitless cursed technique and finally defeat Gojo for good. From there onwards, Sukuna put on a one-man show, where he fought against sorcerer after sorcerer in his reincarnated firm and truly solidified himself as the strongest, along with Gojo.
The author, Gege, had him use several amazing techniques, one of which was the Airwalk Technique as well. The Airwalk technique is what it sounds like. This is a power that Sukuna possessed that allowed him to walk in the air itself.

Sukuna Could Use Cursed Energy To Propel Himself In The Air
In the many battles of JJK, fans have seen certain characters utilize the ability to walk in the air. This ability was mostly a way for the author to give sorcerers the ability to levitate. Levitation is a power that not many can utilize. For instance, Gojo could use the Limitless power to levitate and fight in mid-air. Sukuna, on the other hand, would have to utilize different abilities to pull that off. Meanwhile, Toji Fushiguro could use something similar with the immense amount of physical strength that he possessed. Maki, the next Toji, also did something similar. Given that Maki and Toji both had bodies that went far beyond human levels in terms of physical strength, they could do this impossible task using strength alone.
But, for other sorcerers, such as Sukuna, or even a new sorcerer, such as Higuruma, utilizing cursed energy to do this was also possible. In volume 27 extras, Gege described how sorcerers were able to pull this off and it certainly is interesting. Here's what he had to say:
I really wanted strong sorcerers to have a means of aerial mobility (like a double jump). So, I revealed in the Sakurajima Colony arc that aside from using their CT like Gojo, there’s also the method of 'grasping the surface of the air' like Maki and Toji.
Sukuna has been using this 'grasping the surface of the air' method of movement (look for it!), and he moves faster through the air than Maki or Toji by briefly releasing cursed energy in a small explosion when he grasps the air's surface. (Still, air surfaces aren’t everywhere and are fluid, so his route is limited.)
Moreover, this 'technique of applying cursed energy to the surface of the air' was also being used by Higuruma when he was ringing the gavel, and he was on the verge of mastering the double jump. I planned to tie this setting into depicting how much hidden talent Higuruma has as a sorcerer.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Reveals The Difference Between Sukuna And Yorozu's Incarnations
JJK's mangaka Gege reveals that there is a distinction between the incarnatioon of Yorozu and that of Sukuna. This is what he had to say.
Clearly, Gege wanted to showcase more applications of cursed energy in general. Unfortunately, due to the lack of time that he had and the health issues that he suffered from, he could not incorporate everything that he wanted into his story. Still, it is incredibly exciting that Gege continues to drop bits and pieces in his extra info section along with new volumes.
How Sukuna Surpassed All Expectations
Sukuna Beat Nearly All Sorcerers In Shinjuku
As far as Sukuna goes, the fact that he was able to fight in mid-air using cursed energy to propel himself further just goes to show what a true genius he was. Sukuna was a sorcerer that could not be matched by many, and Gojo was the only true equal to him. Sukuna's performance in Shinjuku will go down as a legendary one, where he showcased what he was truly capable of and why he earned the title of the King of Curses. Clearly, he is a character that can never be matched across history, and hopefully, Gege will continue to drop more bits and pieces about the King of Curses, and also the story in general with the next volume release of the series.
The series having officially wrapped up, these bits of information from the author are truly valuable and add more depth to the story than one could imagine.
With the volume 28 release set to happen in a few months’ time, fans can only hope that the author focuses on Sukuna a lot more than usual. This would also make a lot of sense because the King of Curses is central to the Final Arc of the series, and his conflict with Yuji Itadori is the main event from there onwards. Fans only need to sit back and wait for more information to drop from the author.
