Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Officially Confirms Adult Yuji's Power Level

Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the biggest Shonen manga of the last decade, and for good reasons. Gege Akutami, the creator, has nailed the art of high-octane Shonen battles, and creating high-stakes scenarios in a manga that leaves fans wanting more. The Jujutsu Kaisen series ended with an intense battle against the King of Curses, Sukuna, and this battle was only won thanks to Yuji, Sukuna’s previous vessel.

During this battle, Yuji grew tremendously. Fans have yet to see adult Yuji's full strength, but the new Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, greatly hinted at Yuji’s power level as an adult. Yuji might be comparable to Gojo, as both were described as Japan’s strongest sorcerers.

Yuji was, throughout much of the Jujutsu Kaisen series, not too impressive when it came down to power. Yuji was definitely strong, but he didn’t crack the top 5 strongest characters for quite some time. After all, he was outshone by other, far stronger sorcerers like Gojo, Yuta, Sukuna, and so on.

It’s only during the final battle that Yujireally grew. Going toe to toe with Sukuna unlocked a lot of his potential, such as his domain expansion and his insane talent for Black Flashes. Yuji was, at the end of the day, the main reason humanity was able to win against Sukuna. While his display was great, Yuji wasn't the strongest at the end of the manga, and he was also not in his prime during this battle. Yuji still had years ahead of him to grow and become stronger.

Adult Yuji’s Power is On A Whole Other Level

Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen would really love to see the cast of Jujutsu Kaisen as adults. This, however, might not happen anytime soon, even though Jujutsu Kaisen just got a new sequel. This new sequel for Jujutsu Kaisen is set in the far future, 68 years to be precise, where most characters are either dead or extremely old.

Either way, fans did get a glimpse of Yuji and Gojo, and the text described them both as Japan’s strongest sorcerers. This seems to point out that Yuji grew a lot post-Shinjuku Showdown, especially since he is given more highlights than, say, Yuta.

This could mean that adult Yuji is somewhere around Gojo in power. However, whether that is true or not remains to be seen. It’s possible that JJK Modulo will elaborate on that more in the future.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended in late 2024, but it can be read online for free. It is available on Manga Plus where this series used to be serialized weekly. For fans who want to check out the new JJK sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the series can also be read on Manga Plus where it will drop weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 2 will be released on September 14, 2025.
