Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami's New Manga Could Be Connected To Ryomen Sukuna

It hasn't been too long since the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, which finally came to a conclusion late last year, in 2024. Jujutsu Kaisen's conclusion left a big hole in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, and even that aside, fans needed their fix of a new Gege story. After all, Gege Akutami is a brilliant mangaka whose art and storytelling are absolutely brilliant.

Fans were eagerly waiting for Gege's return, knowing that he would eventually come back, and earlier today, it was officially announced that he is, in fact, coming back with a new manga, called Mojuro. Gege Akutami's Mojuro is going to be a short manga, and it will be serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from Issue #41, which will be next week. Fans absolutely cannot wait to see what Gege has to deliver in his manga. So far, very little has been revealed about the story, but one thing that fans can't help but notice is that Gege Akutami’s presumed new main character looks a lot like Ryomen Sukuna.

Gege Akutami's New manga is set to begin soon, with the serialization for it beginning next week. Fans will get Mojuro chapter 1 next week, which means promotions for this manga will be all over Jump. In this week's Shonen Jump Issue, Gege Akutami's new manga was officially announced and more than anything, fans are incredibly excited to see one of the main characters of Mojuro.

The guy in the advert for it looks to have marks under his eyes, with hair just like Sukuna. More than that, he also seems to have some strange tattoos on his face, similar to the ones that Sukuna had. Even the outfit of the advertised character looks similar to that of Ryomen Sukuna. At this point, fans have to ask, is this character, in any way, connected to Ryomen Sukuna? The answer to this question could very well be yes.

Many fans believe that the character design for this individual is way too similar to Sukuna for it to just be a coincidence, which means there is a chance that Gege's next story is set in the same world as Jujutsu Kaisen.

Could Gege's New Manga Be Connected To The JJK-Verse?

The Chances Are Low, But It Is Possible

It isn't out of the realm of possibilities for Gege Akutami's new manga to be set in the world of JJK. Fans know the powers that exist in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, and Gege would find it easy to continue a story in the same world as well, especially since this is a short manga. Moreover, it would then also explain why this character looks like Sukuna. He could very well be a reincarnation of Ryomen Sukuna, or perhaps someone related to him. That said, chances are that Gege just took inspiration from Ryomen Sukuna for this character design, and the two manga aren't connected.

It would be disappointing, but it is likely. Still, the fact that this character looks like Sukuna just goes to show how much of an incredible character Sukuna was, and what a profound effect he had on Gege Akutami.
