This article contains spoilers from the JJK series.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is continuing with great intensity at the moment, and fans have been loving every single chapter. It is safe to say that when the manga was first announced, fans were somewhat skeptical about it, but over time, all doubts have been erased by the incredibly talented author, Gege Akutami. Although the series has enough on its own to make it absolutely spectacular, the fact is that the author is also teasing the return of some major characters from the prequel series.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Has Officially Revealed The Power Level Of The Alien King
The Alien King is powerful, and Gege just revealed his power level in JJK Modulo.
For instance, Yuji Itadori, the original main character of the series, has already made his return. Now, it seems like Gege is adamant to bring back the main villain of the story, Ryomen Sukuna, as well. Given the amount of attention that the author paid to his finger in Tokyo recently, it seems that his return is on the cards.
Gege Akutami Reintroduces Sukuna's Fingers In The Story
In JJK Modulo Chapter 12, fans got to see the author pay a lot of attention to the Inhuman Makyo in Tokyo. After the events of the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, it seems that Tokyo was completely cut off from the rest of Japan, and is the place where most of the cursed spirits are secluded to. It is also the place where two great exorcisms are carried out every year, so that fewer cursed spirits appear in the rest of Japan. Interestingly, as Yuka and Tsurugi were showing Maru around in this particular part of the country, they also came across Sukuna's finger.
Sukuna, let's start over once again. From the beginning. I'll accept you. — Yuji Itadori to Sukuna
As fans know, this is the cursed object that Yuji ate at the beginning of the original story and which set into motion a series of events that led to the entire story. Now, this finger is back.
Gege Could Bring Sukuna Back
Just by looking at the Sukuna finger pages, it is quite clear that the author is putting extra emphasis on them. At this moment, it seems that he wants to rewrite Sukuna into the story in some way. The best way to do that would be to have someone eat the finger. However, at the end of the original JJK manga, it was said that Sukuna's fingers did not carry the same amount of cursed energy anymore, and eating them wouldn't necessarily bring him back.
However, it must also be noted that that was 68 years ago and things have changed since then, especially in the place around Sukuna, which is soaked in cursed energy.
After 7 Years, Gege Akutami Confirms The Sorcerer Who Stole Gojo's Throne
Gojo's era is over, and this sorcerer has stolen his throne as the strongest sorcerer of Japan in JJK.
Twice a year, a great exorcism is held to prevent the cursed spirits from appearing in the rest of Japan. — Yuka Okkotsu
Sukuna's return would be very exciting for the story, but it would also make sense in regard to what his character arc has to offer. Once Sukuna lost to Yuji, it became clear that he had a change of heart. Sukuna followed the path of devouring until he was the strongest so that he could not be devoured by anyone else. However, in his last moments, it was quite clear that he wanted to follow a different path if he was given a choice once again.
Sukuna Wanted Another Shot At Life
Sukuna would love another shot at life because he wanted to take a different path. This means that if Sukuna were to reappear, he would then take up on Yuji's offer to start from scratch. Yuji clearly offered him this at the end of the fight but he rejected, out of pride. Now, it is quite clear that Sukuna, who had a change of heart in the end, would most likely take up on this offer.
This would be especially useful if a war between the humans and Simurians breaks out. Sukuna could be there to mediate or to act as a deterrent. Either way, fans would absolutely love to see his return in the story, regardless of whether it happens right now or not.
