This article contains some spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen series.

2025 has been quite a heated year for anime, especially when it comes to anime movies. Fans got to witness some of the most exciting releases this year, the biggest of which was Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. However, it didn’t stop there. Shortly after, fans also saw the release of Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc. Chainsaw Man is still a small franchise, but it has managed to surpass far bigger series. Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc went on to become one of the highest-performing anime movies in the US, beating out Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the biggest movie the JJK series has had so far.

It seems that Jujutsu Kaisen is falling behind in the movie department, but its next movie, which could possibly cover the Gojo vs Sukuna battle, could allow it to reclaim the top spots.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Has Been Beaten By Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc

Anime movies have finally shown their true potential in 2025. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has been breaking records, but it isn’t the only highly successful 2025 anime movie fans have seen in Japan and even abroad.

The other big anime movie this year was none other than the long-awaited, Chainsaw Man: Reze arc. The movie was released on September 19 in Japan, and more recently, on October 24 in the USA. The Reze movie hasn’t been out for long in the US, and yet, the numbers prove how big a hit it already is.

Indeed, Chainsaw Man: Reze arc has already cracked into the top 5 highest performing anime movies in the US, despite it not having been a month since its release. At the same time, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has been kicked out of the top 5 after 4 years of maintaining its spot.

This is a tough pill to swallow for Jujutsu Kaisen fans, especially as Chainsaw Man is the second movie to surpass it this year after the record-breaking Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 movie.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Next Movie Could Reclaim Its Top Spot

Jujutsu Kaisen Next Movie Could Reclaim Its Top Spot

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the biggest hit movie for the series so far, but it is also the only original movie that the series has received. While JJK was certainly beaten, one thing fans know for sure is that the series has the potential to outdo itself. So far, all the newer Jujutsu Kaisen movies have simply been recompilations, including the latest movie, Jujutsu Kaisen Executioner.

This means that the series has yet to try with a real new movie, and what comes next could shake the world. If Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 ends with Gojo’s unsealing, it could well set up a major movie for the franchise, and possibly the biggest of all time, and that's the Gojo vs Sukuna movie. A movie with such a big battle would undoubtedly be a box office hit and would allow Jujutsu Kaisen to reclaim its spot in the top 5, at the very least.
